“We was talking about you.”

Cole hummed, his chin brushing Ned’s shoulder and yes, his stubble was sharp enough to bite into skin.

“Me? I’m just mindin’ my own business, enjoying the stew and good company.” He shouldn’t have gorged on the food so fast. If he’d had his hands full, he could’ve used that as an excuse to avoid dancing with Mary.

Cole’s eyes sparked with glee. A sober man wouldn’t have sat this close. Tension passed between them like an invisible bolt of lightning that made no sound yet struck Ned’s heart and made it pound.

“So, Ned…” Mary cooed, and he went stiff when her hand slid to the top of his thigh. Her breath was sweet with wine as she shifted her weight and pressed her breasts to Ned’s arm so unexpectedly his head spun with the possibilities of what that meant, but the pressure of Cole’s chest against his back left him all kinds of confused.

“Huh?”

Mary bit her lip and leaned closer, so her ringlets brushed against his lips as she whispered, “We could go to Cole’s tent, but it’ll be easier to accommodate three if we walked into the woods. I know a place.”

The contents of Ned’s skull boiled, leaving him half-blind for a second. Was she suggesting—? “Three?” he uttered in disbelief. He’d heard of men paying for two whores, but… him and Cole fucking one woman? How would that work? Ned had no experience to speak of. He’d never had a sweetheart, hadn’t even kissed a girl, let alone bedded one.

What if you’re no good at it and Cole laughs at your ineptitude? a voice whispered to Ned, freezing him to the log despite Cole’s scorching presence.

Mary shrugged with a wide smile. “Tom’s got two wives, maybe I can have two husbands? I’d live like a queen!”

“Double the laundry,” Ned said with a nervous chuckle

But she whispered, “Double the cock.”

Ned’s brain took a dive straight into the gutter and showed him Cole’s naked body—or how Ned imagined it—long limbs and wiry muscles shifting under tawny skin as he moved between Mary’s legs and pushed up her skirts. Ned knew the mechanics of fucking as well as any man. He’d heard naughty stories, grown up around farm animals, and had watched the patrons of the saloon get a bit too rowdy with whores. In his mind, Mary’s breasts swelled like two buns in the oven as Cole stretched above her, staring back at Ned, the black eyes asking a question Ned couldn’t decipher.

In this vision, Ned was naked next to them, and so close heat flowed down his body, awakening his prick in an unexpected way. He envisioned Cole withdrawing from her, his dick slick and glossy from Mary’s juices. With a wicked smile, he invited Ned between the legs of the woman he’d just fucked, but once Ned got to work, what would Cole do? Did he intend to fondle her breasts in the meanwhile?

Watch?

He remembered Cole’s face after he’d sucked imaginary venom out of Ned’s leg. Flushed and sweaty, long hair stuck to skin, eyes glossy—that was how he’d look when fucking.

Ned’s throat was so dry even another swig from the bottle couldn’t help him.

This was wrong, yet he stayed motionless when Cole shifted against him, moving his arm so it went behind Ned’s back, the side of his hand brushing against Ned’s buttocks as it rested on the log.

“What do you say, Ned?” Mary asked and nipped on his earlobe before flicking it with her tongue.

Air was stuck in Ned’s lungs, and he glanced over his shoulder, seeking confirmation that this was only a sick joke, but Cole’s face was so close he could smell the pleasant odor of his hair oil. When their eyes met, Cole’s scorching gaze sent heat down Ned’s neck, chest, all the way to his loins while Mary continued kissing his ear.

The uneven mouth stretched into a smile, and when Cole’s pink tongue darted outside to moisten his teeth, Ned shot up, out of the insisting arms.

“Nah, don’t seem right to me, but you two enjoy your night,” he choked out and took another step back, swearing and jumping away when the heat of fire licked his back, but the illicit vision had already taken root in his head.

Cole between a pair of legs, thrusting his hips like a wild beast, the muscles of his backside flexing, and every time it happened, Ned’s imagination suggested Cole looking back at him with a wicked grin, his gaze intense and stabbing into Ned over and over.

An invitation. But to what?

Mary blinked like a startled chicken. “You said he was up for it,” she whispered and slapped Cole’s face, picking herself up to the sound of laughter.

“Hey Cole, you should pay first, and only then touch,” roared Adam Wild, putting away his guitar as everyone else laughed at the sorry scene.
