“Get off me, Daimon,” she gritted out. I needed her heat, her heat on my skin.

“No,” I said as I pushed her back onto the wall, grabbing her shoulders.

I dipped in, letting the bridge of my nose caress her jaw. I took a deeper breath, taking in the sweet smell of Addie. Her eyes closed as her head slowly fell back. I let out a breath. I was going to kiss my woman. I was going to have my tongue dance around her mouth, tasting her, savoring her. I couldn’t help but bring her in closer to me. I wanted my cock to press up against her. I wanted to feel her body melt against mine.

“Go screw yourself, Daimon,” she said in a hushed voice, making me smile as my cock stood to attention. I loved it when she swore at me. I knew she was lost to me.

“Why? ‘Cause I told you that you’re worth more? ‘Cause I want you to be proud to be my wife?” I said roughly, as I continued to stare closely into her eyes.

“No! Because you don’t want the old Addie. She’s still inside me, Daimon, and I'm not going to hide her away cause you don’t like the sight of her,” she bit back roughly as she tried to catch her breath. Son of a bitch. I moved my hand higher making a fist as I hit the wall behind her.

“I was going to fuck you right here. I wanted to fuck some sense into you, but knowing you, you’d think it was me wanting to control you,” I growled as I stood straight. “It’s too bad, Addie, that you can’t see what I see. You’re perfect and I just wish you saw it too,” I said angrily at her. Her face changed and her eyes softened. “Have fun with your friend. I’ll see you back at the hotel.” I left my Addie in the alcove I had dragged her in. Fuck, I was pissed at her and her idiocy.

“Rafe, get your ass up. We’re leaving,” I called out to him just before I left.

“Hey, Evans,” Rafe shouted at me as we left the restaurant. “Holy shit, man, you’re pussy whipped.”

“Shut the fuck up, Rafe,” I said angrily as I grabbed at him.

“Listen, Evans, I realize Addie means everything to you, but fuck, man, Addie, from the little you’ve told me, has had it hard. Why not take it easy on her?” Rafe said calmly as I held him.

“She pissed me off,” I said as I let him go.

“And? Daimon, this is only the beginning, man. You’re going to be fighting with her always. You know that,” Rafe commented.

He was right. It wouldn’t be the last. The old Addie, as she called it, would continuously appear until hopefully she would be gone. I hated the insecure part of her. I hated how much she felt like she didn’t deserve the world when she deserved the world and more.

We headed up to our room, Rafe in his usual double bed off to the side of the suite while I took the king-size room. Rafe and I usually bunked together in the largest suite in the hotel. It was easier this way, especially due to our schedules and meetings, which we held in the conference room of the suite.

Once back in my room, I headed off to take a shower and laid down on the bed. Fucking Addie wasn’t back just yet. It was late too. I lay there with the lights off, seething and waiting. Finally, I heard her coming in. She slowly eased into our room and stepped toward the bathroom so as not wake me.

“Don’t bother being so quiet. I’m obviously awake,” I said coldly.

“Oh,” she murmured as she stopped and stood in the middle of the room. The soft blue hue of the night sky lit her as she faced me. I let out a heavy sigh as I continued to lay there.

“Was it stupid to think I might have changed you? That my sick love was enough to bring you back to life?” I asked, just as Addie started for the bathroom again.

“Your love isn’t sick, Daimon. It’s just…it’s you. I happen to love the way you’ve changed me. Don’t you remember what I said in Bora Bora?” she said softly.

“That was then, before you knew I had lied to you,” I said callously.

“Daimon…I—”

“Fuck, Addie, I just wanted to think that I…somehow…”

“Daimon, would you shut up already. I told you you did change me, but you can’t think I won’t go back to my old ways sometimes. You invited me here on a business trip. You’ve never done that before. I was just worried that I would screw something up. I’m sorry. I know you said what you did before was for my benefit. I just hate the idea you didn’t like who I was,” Addie said quietly.
