I’ve been texting with Ny today, trying to see where her temper is. I know she’s not ready to return and Gio isn’t ready for her to come back either. That doesn’t stop me from missing her.
“What the fuck did you say?” I hear Gio hiss. I lift my head to find him in some guy’s face.
“Gio, don’t. I have all I want. We can go now,” Lizzy pleads.
“No, I want him to repeat that shit,” Gio seethes.
“I said her fat ass needs to get the fuck out of the way,” the guy says with his chest poked out.
Before Gio can knock him on his ass. I rush past both him and Lizzy and grab the guy off his feet by the neck. He turns red in the face as I squeeze.
“Not so tough now, are you?”
“Oh my God, Jace. No, please. I’m fine.”
“You might be fine, but I’m not,” Gio says. “You have a nasty mouth on you, buddy. If I were you, I’d watch how I speak to people. You never know who’s who.”
“Bro, let go,” the dude tries to breathe.
I release him with a shove, knocking him on his ass. I’m coiled tightly with rage. I didn’t like what he said to Lizzy, but most of all, he caused Gio to lose his temper. It’s always my job to protect Gio.
“I’d leave while you can,” Gio says darkly.
I turn, take the books from Lizzy’s hands, and guide her to the register where they ring up her haul and Gio pays for it. Seeing he’s back to himself, I relax and go back to checking my phone.
Chapter 6
Predictable Bitch
Gio
Before I take my throne, I need to clean house. There are certain things I’ve allowed to happen that I’m no longer in the mood to accommodate.
My sister-in-law, Bethany, and her money-laundering father are at the top of that list. I don’t have the patience or tolerance for her any longer. As for Kaling, Riccardo never knows how to use his assets properly. So it’s time for me to pull apart the hand he thinks he’s holding.
Once again, one move, two objectives. Today I’m in Boston. Bethany makes these trips to come spend weekends with Franky while Dante is away on business.
Now I could send Dante the pictures Jace has been taking, so Dante knows who’s sleeping next to him, but then I’d have a bloodbath to clean up after. No, this needs a Gio touch.
“He couldn’t resist. She’s got him,” Jace murmurs. “Macy’s upstairs with him.”
“Good, there’s Bethany now.” I grin as I watch her bounce her ass into Franky’s apartment building. “Now we wait.”
“You really think she’s going to target his brother after this?” Jace asks.
“I’m counting on it.” She’s a vindictive bitch.
I know she will. Sometimes I can’t believe she’s two years older than Dante. Bella tends to show as more rational than she does.
We sit in our rented car and wait. Right about now, Bethany should be getting off the elevator, headed for Franky’s apartment, where he’s engaged in some good old fun with Macy, one of my dolls.
Pretty Irish girl with a wide ass and great tits. The way Franky did a double take on her when I sent her and Autumn to test his temperature for taste, I have no doubt he’s already got his pants down as Bethany walks in on him.
“Well, that didn’t take long,” Jace snorts as Bethany comes storming out of the building with Franky running behind her, still pulling his pants up.
I crack the window to listen to their argument. Bethany spins on him as he calls after her. He stumbles to a stop and fumbles with his belt.
“Who the fuck was that? You’re cheating on me?” Bethany screeches.
“Did you forget you’re married?”
“Because of your grandfather.”
“Oh, please. He didn’t force you to get married. You could have chosen me.”
“Really? Really? Because I remember you talking about this payday coming if I did this for you. Now you’re sticking your dick in some random and I’m stuck with a kid I don’t want. And your sorry-ass grandfather isn’t a single step closer to anything he promised.”
“Fuck you, Beth. You know he’s been working with the FBI to take them all down.”
Bethany scoffs. “Like that shit is going to work, if it’s even true. I’ve been so stupid. Listening to you, my parents, your grandfather. They could kill us all for this bullshit.”
“Shh, baby, calm down. Let’s just go back upstairs and talk about this.”
“Fuck you. This probably isn’t even the first time, is it? Always coming out here, talking about coming to hang with your little brother. I call bullshit.”
“I do come to see Jacob. Baby, relax, let’s talk.”
“You can go talk to that cow you left in your apartment.”
“Beth, where are you going?”
“I’m going to see your brother. I’m not the only one who’s going to look stupid this weekend.”
