It sets in that we need to make this happen now. She’s going to need to join Dario soon, or she may not be cleared to fly. We all thought of another way to trigger her.

We’ve known about Car’s ability to watch and pick things up. We want to see if watching us will trigger her. Gio suggested we team up the way we did when we were younger.

I think Gio wanted to avoid this route because Carleen used to cry when she didn’t think she could take us older boys. She could and eventually did.

I think the past trauma might be exactly what she needs as a trigger. Maybe those memories will push the door open. We can only hope.

Although that’s not what has me frozen as I stand here looking into the ring. I watch Ny, wishing it were her with the baby bump. My mind goes to images of two boys. One blond and one with dark hair. A little me and G.

They’ll be best friends, just like us. I’ll make sure of that. And if I can’t, I know Gio will. “You all right?” Gio turns and says.

I shake my head to clear it and start into the gym. Our time is coming. I just need to be patient.

Carleen

Gio called and said he’d be stopping by to check in on me for Dario. I’m nervous. I know he won’t miss this bump. I need him to understand I’m not ready to tell Dario. If I do, everything will change. I’m not ready.

The doors to the gym open and in walks Gio and Jace, like two bosses. Coats moving around them like models on a runway. I smile and shake my head. BDE is just something you have when around the Di Lorenzos. Even the way Jace pushes his loose hair from his face is sexy.

I look at Ny at my side as she snorts. “You see this shit? They know they’re fine,” she teases, but the look on her face says something totally different.

“Come with me,” Holly says next to my ear. I hadn’t noticed she moved into the ring or came so close.

I back out of the ring with her, not taking my eyes off Gio and Jace as they remove their coats and start to peel their shirts and shoes off. I’m not sure what they’re up to, but the view is nice. Ny seems to be focused on them as well.

Gio is the first to make it into the ring where she stands. I reluctantly turn quickly to see my way out of the ring. My eyes are right back on them as I make my way out of the ring and move quickly to sit beside Holly on the bleachers.

Gio now stands shirtless in front of Ny. The music we are playing changes to “Cry to Me” by Seal.

Gio slips his hand into Ny’s hair and he places his forehead to hers. Then he moves his leg between hers and grinds and sways to the music in a way that would put Patrick Swayze and the entire Dirty Dancing franchise to shame.

I mean, the way his lips are parted as he moves with Ny’s body has me ready to call Dario to tell him I’m on my way. Gio moves his free hand to Ny’s ass as he holds her close to his body and guides her to grind with him.

He rolls her upper body back as he keeps a tight hold of her hair. When she comes upright, I find myself holding my breath, waiting for their lips to touch. I feel like I’m watching something I shouldn’t. That’s when a shirtless, barefoot Jace enters the ring.

“They’re amazing to watch,” Holly breathes beside me.

“Yeah, they are,” I whisper.

That’s when Jace grabs Gio’s shoulder like he wants to tug him away from Ny. Ny grabs Jace’s hand, dips under Gio’s arm to spin around him and tugs Jace’s arm behind his back. Jace swiftly twists out of the move and dances out of the way, moving as sensually as Gio.

It’s sexy the way the three move around each other. Ny tosses a few rhythmic elbows and punches at Jace before Gio gets between them, dancing Ny back. However, Jace goes to tug at Gio again.

This time Ny climbs Gio’s back and settles on his shoulders. That’s when Jace attacks Gio’s torso. Ny spins off Gio’s shoulders as he grabs her hands and uses her like a bat.

It happens so fast. I gasp and wince. Jace’s head snaps to the side, but he straightens, shakes his head, and grins.

Something about the move tickles my brain. I can’t settle on one thought. A bunch of images rushes me.

I’m small, but I’m attacking someone. I can’t see them, but I know I’m backing them down.

I shake the images away and focus on the scene before me again. Ny has switched to protecting Jace from Gio. Their moves are so fluid.
