He pulls out to the tip, only to sink back in.

“You don’t waste time.” I’ve never taken anyone his size before, and it’s making me pant.

“Gotta make these fifteen seconds count.” The slight strain in his voice betrays his calm bravado. He pushes, sliding all the way in, drawing another moan from me as he pauses to let me adjust.

My legs fall to either side of his arms. He’s gripping my thighs so tight, I can’t move, anyway.

His chest heaves with labored breaths—not from exertion, but from a struggle for control, for patience. “I can’t wait to uncover all your little secrets. Dirty and otherwise.”

I look up to find him gazing down at me, a curious look on his face. Does he even mean that, or is it something you say when you’re balls-deep inside a woman? Where does Garrett see this going?

Those aren’t questions I’m supposed to be asking of a guy I’m casually fucking.

If that’s what this is.

“I like this angle.” It gives us both prime viewing for where we’re joined, but even better, I get a delightful view in the full-length mirror attached to the back of my door. I can admire the web of muscle across his back, the tight, hard mounds of his ass, his thick thighs. It’s the best of both worlds.

I shift my hips, earning his groan.

He finally begins to move. My body slowly stretches for him, welcoming him more with each new rolling thrust. The illicit view of his flexing muscles and where we’re joined builds my arousal quickly. Soon, my bedroom fills with the intimate sounds of flesh against flesh and uninhibited moans.

He shifts, adjusts his angle a touch, and suddenly he’s hitting that perfect spot inside me with each stroke. I cry out as my body bows, that feeling in my lower belly coiling tighter.

“There you are,” Garrett murmurs, and his tempo speeds up, his muscles tensing as his grip on my thighs tightens. My metal bed frame creaks noisily, his hips pistoning in and out of me at a new, punishing rate. A thin sheen of sweat coats both our bodies. I revel in it, stealing a glance in the mirror. The sensual image reflected pushes me over the edge. I explode, my inner muscles squeezing around Garrett with each wave that crashes in, my cries loud and unabashed.

His head falls back with a groan that sounds more like a growl, his muscular form going rigid. Seconds later, I feel him pulsing inside me as my body keeps rocking against his, chasing the last of that high.

Releasing my legs, he flops down halfway on top of me, his skin hot, his chest heaving, his heart pounding against my shoulder. We lie naked and splayed for long minutes, our ragged breaths mingling together the only sound in the house.

“Is someone ready to admit she was wrong?” Garrett asks into the silence, his voice raspy.

I brush my lips over his ear, teasing him as I whisper, “I think you’re getting way ahead of yourself.” I cap that off with a tongue-drag along his lobe.

He shudders a sigh. “I’m not. You should make a public announcement.”

“In the Tribune?”

He snorts. “Exactly. Polson Falls hasn’t heard enough about HG.”

Talk of the Tribune and Polson Falls drags back the reality of our current dynamic. We’re adversaries. He lied to me and tried to use me. I’ve been plotting against him since January, working doggedly to stall his big project.

How the hell did we end up here?

Maybe it was inevitable.

But now that we are here, I’m not willing to let it go yet.

I weave my fingers through his silky-soft hair. “Stay.” The word comes out without any planning, but as soon as it does, I know I mean it.

His eyes meet mine, a questioning look in them.

“Just for the night.” I smooth my hand down to where we’re still joined. “I’m not finished playing with you yet.”

He leans in to press a kiss against my lips. “Okay.”

I wake to a low, repetitive hum. It takes a split second and my mattress moving to remind me I’m not waking up alone this morning, that the heat against my back is from an exquisite male body lying next to me, that the delicious ache of my thighs is from a night I hope I never forget.

“You set an alarm?” I ask, my voice croaky. “That’s criminal.” The last time I looked at the clock, it said four a.m.

Garrett groans. The mattress shifts again.

I roll over to see him perched at the edge of my bed, his bare back a span of muscle, his head hung as if he’s struggling to get his bearings. “I have a meeting in an hour, and last night, I did not finish what I needed to for it.”

“Garrett Harrington the Third did not complete his homework? Why ever not?”
