Even though she doesn't need to work, she spends two mornings a week at Gatsby's Books on Main Street. She divides the rest of her time between helping me out at Romano and staying home with the kids. Not that they are home often. Between the playdates, coffee dates, shopping excursions, and other adventures, their days are full. They're at the clubhouse more than I am most weeks.

I fucking love seeing it.

My wife is thriving. Two days after she confronted Connor, Fifth let us know that she wasn't on the radar concerning the investigation. It was a weight off her shoulders. She celebrated by planning a giant Thanksgiving celebration for all my brothers and their families. She said if she was going to be part of our family, she wanted to do it right. The Vipers were spotted in Silver Spoon Falls a few times, but they never got their hands on anyone. They never even got close.

A few weeks later, the feds moved in. By Thanksgiving, they were all in jail. Most of them are still there and will be for a long time. Connor…well, Connor had a few surprises up his sleeve that no one saw coming, Catriona least of all. He was working as an informant to bring the Vipers down. He had been since they started trafficking drugs for the Savages. When Catriona left, he knew it was the best thing for her. The day she went back to confront him, he was trying to protect her the best way he knew how.

Things aren't always what they seem, and people have a way of surprising you. He certainly surprised the fuck out of me. He still did a little time. Far less than anyone else. But Catriona got her brother back. Their relationship is solid.

He and I are a work in progress, and we probably always will be. We've hashed out a lot of shit along the way, but I still don't entirely trust him with her. I may never trust him with her. He did the right thing in the end, but he's still the one who got her into the shit in the first place. She's too goddamn important, and I know exactly how many tears she cried over him. I held her through most of them.

Oddly, he and Giant get along great. He doesn't spend much time around the rest of the MC, though. Like me, they're slow to trust. Especially Cash and Cowboy. It's one thing to hurt us. But when you hurt the women we love, all bets are off. He may have been working as an informant, but Kyra still got hurt. There are no free passes for that bullshit…and second chances are damn hard to come by.

"What are you doing today, rabbit?" I watch as she sets about fixing her lipstick, muttering under her breath about me messing it up…as if I'm the one who took my dick out of my pants and put it in her mouth. Not that I'm going to remind her of that or anything. Are you kidding me? I'm not a complete idiot.

"Stuff," she says.

"What kind of stuff?" I ask, narrowing my eyes in suspicion as I tuck my dick back into my pants.

"Stuff," she says again. "Mind the business that pays you, Andreas Romano."

I pluck her tube of lipstick from her hand and quickly shove the cap back on before tossing it toward my dresser.

"I was using that!" she protests.

"What stuff, Catriona Romano?" I growl, getting up in her personal space. I love my wife beyond all reason. She's the reason my heart beats. I'd fight the armies of heaven and hell for her without hesitation. But she's lost her damn mind if she thinks she's leaving this room without telling me what she's doing today.

I know my wife. She's curious and spontaneous and so damn brave. She acts before she thinks and gets in over her head. In short, she's the sole reason I'm going gray. There's not a chance in hell she's leaving this room without fessing up.

"I'm taking dirty pictures on your motorcycle!" she cries.

I blink at her, not sure I heard her correctly. My dick definitely heard her. He's rock hard, thinking about her in nothing but sexy lingerie on the back of my bike. Fuck. Maybe I don't need to work today.

"I hired a photographer and everything," she says, pouting at me. "It was supposed to be a surprise for our anniversary."

"Is the photographer a man or a woman?" I demand.

"Does it matter?"

I narrow my eyes on her.

"You're so ridiculous," she huffs. "I hired a woman, caveman."

"Maybe I should stay home with the kids today," I mutter, pulling her into my arms. "I don't feel well. I could have the flu."

Catriona throws her head back and laughs loudly. "I love you, but you have to leave our house, Andreas. Autumn is coming to watch the kids."
