“And you already know Zane,” Dom says as he leads me into the kitchen.

The kid I met when Dom brought him to the arena is standing at the island peeling potatoes. Dom told me he’s giving Zane his Mustang as a surprise when he turns sixteen, and I knew in that moment that he’d be marrying Tess.

Before he met her, he loved that car more than just about anything. His giving it to Zane says everything about how much Dom cares about Tess and her kids.

“And this is Hannah,” Dom says, pointing to a girl with dark hair pulled into a ponytail.

“Hey,” Hannah says with a wave.

“Nice to meet you.”

“This is the woman crazy enough to be with me,” he says, putting a hand on the back of a very pretty woman with dark hair who’s chopping something at the island.

She smiles. “Rowan, right?”

“That’s me.”

She gives Dom an affectionate look. “He talks about you a lot.”

“All bad shit,” he assures me.

I’ve never seen him look at a woman with open adoration. I’ll be surprised if he hasn’t married her within a year. Dom settled down before age thirty. I would have bet against that.

“And last but not least, this is Tess’s sister, Cam,” Dom says.

I look at the woman next to Tess for the first time. Damn, is she gorgeous. Her hair is light brown and straight, cut so it falls just past her jawline. She’s average height and build and her smile lights up her face, which is beautiful.

“Hey, Rowan,” she says, popping a small piece of carrot into her mouth. “Hope you like kids.”

It takes me a second to stop staring at her and respond. “Dom’s basically an overgrown one, so I get lots of practice. It’s nice to meet you.”

“Can I get you a drink?” Tess offers.

“I’ll grab a beer in a little bit.” I slide out of my coat. “What can I do to help?”

Cam waves a hand. “You don’t have to do anything. Go ref the wrestling match in the living room if you want. Make sure my son doesn’t break any bones.”

“Sergei won’t let him get hurt,” Dom says, looking at me. “You want to shoot some darts in the basement?”

Hang out with him, who I see pretty much every day anyway? When I could be in the kitchen with a beautiful woman who I’d be fascinated to listen to even if she was reading me a phone book?

“This is a well-kept secret, but I have culinary skills,” I say, hanging my coat on the back of a chair at the kitchen table. “Not the word that ends in an s; I’m talking about the one with a z. I’ve got skillz, people. What can I chop or peel like an absolute boss?”

Cam smiles and meets my gaze. “You can help peel carrots if you want.”

“I’d love to.”

I roll up my sleeves, wash my hands and walk over to her. God, she even smells amazing. Like sunshine mixed with a little vanilla.

“You’re officially on the clock,” she teases, passing me a carrot and a peeler.

And...I just changed my mind about leaving early.
