Then Kyle was striding past the hamster wheel that lit up when a sub was running on it. It was not her favorite funishment. Not even close.

He was exactly what she’d said he was. Overstimulated. That was why he’d been so quiet. The whole damn day had been one crisis after another, forcing him to pivot and change plans and go against those faulty instincts of his. He needed to be in control for a while. She could give that to him the way he’d given it to her the night before.

Were they ready for this?

The question floated through her head, but she let it go. They didn’t have to decide anything tonight. Taylor was right about that. She felt his pull, knew this man was special. That was all she needed to know.

He walked past the main stage and past several spaces that were rigged for suspension play. He stopped at one of the smaller play areas. A plain space with a massage-style bed and a table with a kit laid out. She didn’t get a chance to see what was in the kit because Kyle set her on her feet and then crowded her space.

“Have you changed your mind about sex tonight? I can let you go but I’ll sleep outside your room again because it would be hard to keep my hands off you this evening.” He was staring down at her, intensity in his eyes.

There was no way she was letting him sleep outside her door. “I haven’t changed my mind. About anything. Not yet.”

One big hand sank into her hair and twisted lightly. She had to force herself not to freaking melt. This was what she needed. He’d been reluctant the night before, but there was no such hesitancy now. He tugged her head back and loomed over her—the big bad Dom ready to eat her up. “Then greet me and do it properly.”

They had never gone over protocol surrounding their D/s relationship, but she thought she knew what he wanted. She hadn’t needed to worry about fet wear since this had been his plan all along. He wanted her naked and on her knees.

She stepped back and undressed in quick, efficient movements. She folded her jeans and shirt then stacked on her bra and undies and turned to the man she knew she would love whether they were together or not. She’d loved him even when she’d been enraged with him, even when he’d dulled her shine by walking away.

She set the clothes on the table and tried not to think about the many toys Kyle had lain out, including a plug that probably would fit. Might. With a lot of lube. Of course the straps would make sure that sucker stayed inside no matter how he eventually twisted and turned her body.

Her Dom was clearly planning on making a statement she would feel all through the next day.

Well, she had been kind of a brat.

She moved in front of him, feeling more confident than she had in months and months. Maybe ever since she was a different version of herself. She was different than she’d been when they’d first met. Different than she’d been when she’d woken up this morning. Today she’d begun to build a bridge between her selves, between the MaeBe who’d been blindly optimistic and the one who could handle herself.

There was a happy medium between the two that combined the best of both MaeBes.

Content in her own skin, she sank to her knees in front of him, giving her Dom the deference he deserved in this space. She spread her knees wide and let her head lower submissively. This was the place she’d longed to be in all day. She’d fought it because somewhere deep inside she’d thought she didn’t deserve it. She hadn’t feared it. This place was happy and relaxed. This place was a second home to her, where she could rest and find pleasure and joy.

One big hand came out to cover her head. “I’m so glad you didn’t change your mind, baby. I know I said I could handle it, and I would have, but I need you so fucking much tonight. You have no idea what I felt when I thought they’d shot you.”

She brought her head up because that was bullshit. “I once watched the house you were in explode, Kyle.”

“Fair, but not the place.” He leaned over and brushed his lips against her forehead. “I’ll let you rail at me for hours and hours tomorrow. And when we leave for DC on Sunday, you and Taylor can drink wine and complain bitterly about how dumbass your boyfriends are.”

That was news to her. Apparently he and Drake had found some time to talk. “We’re leaving for DC Sunday?” There was only one real reason to do that. “Drake thinks he knows where it is?”
