“Yes, I talked with my contact at PSIA, and they’ve moved on your intel,” Joseph explained, sitting down and offering him a chair across from him. His big desk was in between them. “It looks like they were planning a major event in Tokyo to coincide with the Ueno Cherry Blossom Festival. They’ve sent their thanks as well.”

“Excellent.” He was happy he’d been able to help avoid more chaos, but this wasn’t where he wanted to be. He had much bigger fish to catch. A particular fish who wanted to set the world on fire and play in the ashes.

Joseph stared at him for a moment as though assessing him. “What would you say if I sent you to Australia?”

He felt his gut tighten. “I would ask you to let me talk to you about Emmanuel Huisman.”

Manny. His childhood best friend. Dr. Huisman, the most dangerous man on the planet.

“I’ve read the files,” Joseph said not unkindly. “I agree the doctor should be monitored. I’ve got some eyes on the whole Huisman Foundation. I don’t think we’re at a point where I would send you in. Unless you believe you can use your former relationship with the doctor to get on the inside, so to speak.”

“I think he would rather shoot me on sight at this point.” His one-time best friend wouldn’t allow him to get close. Not ever again. No one ever said Manny didn’t have excellent survival instincts.

“Then let me gather some intel on him. Right now, I don’t think there’s enough to take to the chief. I promise I will keep you up to date, but I need you in the field. We’re working with the Americans on this one, and I don’t know the operative they’re sending,” Joseph explained. “She’s new, and the reports I’m hearing about her are intriguing, to say the least.”

“You want me to assess what kind of an agent she’ll be?” He had to be patient. He couldn’t go after Manny on his own. He needed the full force of his agency behind him.

Joseph handed him a folder. “I want you to get to know her. Let me know if she’s an ally or a roadblock. The word around is that she’ll be sweet as pie one minute and the next she’s walking out without sharing the intel she promised. I think she might be dangerous. There are groups on the rise, and they’ll have doubles in every agency. It’s a simple job. I just want your thoughts.”

He opened the folder and stopped because there was a picture of the single most gorgeous woman he’d ever seen. She had bright pink hair and wore a dress that clung to her every curve. That woman was made to drive a man insane, to make him forget his every responsibility. “Tell me they call her Miss Pink.”

Unlike the CIA, Canadian Intelligence didn’t use the color system.

“I believe she goes by Ms. Magenta when she’s working with military or foreign assets.” Joseph sat back, a brow arching. “Do you think you can handle her?”

Oh, he would love to handle her, but he wouldn’t. She would be strictly hands off. “I can take care of the situation, sir.”

“Excellent. Then let’s go over the op,” Joseph said.

Ben sat back and shoved aside his immediate attraction to a woman he didn’t know. He would be professional and decide whether or not Ms. Magenta was a threat.

If she was, then he would take her out.
