“Dogs will find that,” he said by way of explanation. “Now we must go.”

Sebastian continued to cry until Lucan put a sympathetic hand on his shoulder. “Things will get better, sire. Life will not always be as hard as it is today. This is the worst day of your life, but it will not be the last. Now let us make haste.”

Lucan mounted his horse with an easy motion, and put a hand out to Sebastian.

“Would you like to ride up front this time?” He winked the question.

Sebastian dried his tears and extended his hand. He had to be brave, he reminded himself. There were worse things than ruined clothing, though ruined clothing could stand as a proxy for all of them.

Sebastian felt Lucan’s strength again as he was hoisted from the ground and up ahead of him. The knight’s strong arm wrapped around his waist to keep him in place, and as the horse began to walk, he felt Lucan’s pelvis rocking against his rear.

From misery to arousal, Sebastian felt his emotions swing yet again. As he became flushed with excitement and embarrassment, many of the miseries of the last day seemed to melt away. The feeling of being held by Lucan was like… Sebastian took a deep breath and tried to come to terms with it. He wanted to think that it was not too entirely all consuming, that he was not so enamored with his knight that a single hold could make all that was wrong, right.

But he couldn’t help coming to the same conclusion with every rocking motion of the horse.

It was like feeling an embrace he had been missing his entire life.

Lucan was glad for the length of the gambeson providing padding between him and the prince’s rear. If it had not been there, Sebastian would surely have felt the long, hard rod of Lucan’s desire rubbing at the crack of his royal cheeks.

It was not going to be easy to maintain his professionalism with Sebastian. The prince was tempestuous and spoiled, but he was also brilliant, passionate, and powerful — even if that power still remained latent.

He would need careful handling and no doubt more discipline. The couple of slaps he’d taken so far were nothing more than precursors to an inevitable proper whipping, of that Lucan was almost certain.

Images of Sebastian bent before him flashed through his mind, becoming filthier and filthier with every passing moment. He could practically feel the royal ass wrapped around his cock. It would be so very easy, and so very wrong to take advantage of the virginal lost prince, to turn him into a filthy little fuck-squire.

Lucan once more tamed his darker thoughts. He had dedicated his life to noble things, not to the degradation of his charge.

They travelled for several hours. Lucan kept his eyes and ears out, often slowing the horse to a complete halt in order to listen properly. He was on edge in a way he had not been in a very long time. As a knight he was accustomed to having others to aid him in his quests. Solo adventures were not common.

It would be useful if Sebastian had his own horse and was able to partake in the project of his survival, but then again, having him on the horse with him made it easier for Lucan to keep track of him. For now, Sebastian was like an overgrown boy. He was helpless in many ways, unable to contribute meaningfully to his own survival.

Lucan had chosen a route toward the Verdant Green that he imagined would be the most safe. It avoided major routes and roads, winding instead through heavily forested goat and deer tracks, little paths used by peasants and those who lived on the fringes of society.

But society could not be avoided forever if they wanted provisions and supplies. Lucan wanted both. He had chosen a small town named Greenbelt as their jumping off point.

Greenbelt was a cozy little village in a clearing right before the forest which led to the border of the Verdant Green. The border was not well controlled by soldiers because there had never been any true hostilities between Force and the Green. That might very well change, Lucan imagined. He also imagined that there would soon be soldiers searching for Sebastian along the border.

It was possible they would encounter resistance in Greenbelt, but waiting would mean nearly certainly being caught. He was forced to choose the best option out of terrible options.

Though rural and rather remote, Greenbelt catered to woodsmen and lumber production and was quite well-to-do as a result. The cottages on the outskirts were made of wood and thatched with branches and leaves rather than the more typical mud and straw of less well-to-do regions.

The test of their disguise came when they passed the first harness hitch with two heavy horses dragging unprocessed logs. In the background, the sound of the nearby mill could be heard, a rushing of water and a repetitive, soothing sawing sound making for a hearty aural tableau.
