His grip tightens when I struggle, making me gasp.

Yet it’s not a gasp. It’s more like a moan.

Nico’s eyes flare, and his lips part. I struggle to swallow, but my mouth is dry. I wet my lips, and Nico’s heated eyes drop to them, tracking my tongue. The vein on the side of his neck throbs while my heart pounds wildly in my chest.

“Is this the way it’s going to be?” he asks, his voice rough. “You fucking fighting me every step of the way?”

To answer, I struggle against his hands, pinning my wrists to the wall, but again, I am no match.

He leans closer, his lips brushing my ear. “Because right now, I’m really fucking enjoying it.”

Another attempt at a gasp leaves my lips. But again, it’s a moan.

He leans deeper into me so I can feel everything, and whispers, “And I think you do too.”

I suck in a deep breath to calm my crazy heart and my racing pulse.

“There’s nothing about this I like…” I croak.

“No?”

He loosens his grip just slightly, so my wrists are still clasped in his but not as tight. I could break free, but I don’t.

“No,” I manage to breathe out the word. Because I don’t know what’s happening inside me.

“You don’t like feeling me this close to you? Pinning you to the wall because you’ve been a bad girl.” His eyes become hooded and hot. “You say you don’t like punishment, but I think a part of you aches to be punished.”

The way he says aches makes me think there is something to what he is saying. Because my knees weaken, and it’s then that I realize I am aching for him.

His cheek brushes my cheek, and my breath escapes me. My head swims with desire. My lips part. I want to taste his lips. His skin. His punishment.

Who even am I right now?

I’m out of control, and when his lips brush my throat, I let out a desperate groan.

His hands slide down the length of my body, sending goose bumps sweeping across my skin.

He moves his lips up my throat to the sweet spot below my ear, and my knees go weak. Lust pools between my thighs, the sweet throb beating in time with my heart.

“Is that what you want, Bella?” he moans in my ear. “You want me to punish you?”

I gasp as his hands slide behind me to cup my ass and hold me against his body. He’s hard, and I can feel every glorious fucking inch of him.

“No,” I moan, but I’m lying. Every part of me except my mind wants more of what is happening, although my mind is starting to cloud and fog with need.

I need to stop this.

Before I can protest, his lips are on mine, and his tongue fills my mouth. His kiss is exactly what I need, and I respond hungrily, taking the kiss deeper and deeper until I can’t breathe. He grabs my ass, pressing me tighter against the rigid outline of his cock, and I moan into his mouth, desperate for more.

And then it happens, my brain gets ahold of herself, and I come crashing back to earth.

Nico is the enemy. He’s forcing me into a marriage I don’t want.

He’s trying to hurt me just as much as he’s trying to hurt my father.

Now he’s using physical pleasure to, what, amuse himself?

I rip my lips from him and shove him in the chest.

“You asshole.”

He looks amused. “That’s not what you were thinking a few seconds ago.”

I shove him again as humiliation burns my cheeks.

“You don’t get to kiss me.” I wipe the back of my hand across my mouth.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but you were kissing me back.” He smirks. “Rather hungrily, I might add.”

Embarrassment spreads across my skin. “Call it a momentary lapse of reason. I assure you it won’t happen again.”

He sweeps his gaze up my body and sets his impossibly dark eyes on my face, the heat in them forcing me to step back because I know I need distance from this man. He’s dangerous for me in every sense of the word.

He chuckles as if he knows better, and again, my cheeks burn with humiliation.

I turn away from him and press the elevator button.

“You really are trying my patience,” he growls.

Effortlessly, he throws me over his shoulder and carries me down the hallway to a bedroom, and once inside, he discards me onto the bed.

Excitement and fear go wild in my chest as he looms over me, and all I can do is stare up at him.

“You need to understand that you can’t win in this situation. All this effort you put into fighting would be much better put into obeying me. You might actually enjoy it.”

“Don’t hold your breath,” I mutter as he walks toward the door. “Wait, are you leaving?”
