Tight, tight, tight.

And then he jerks. “Fuck, Davis.”

My orgasm rips from me, spilling over him as he spills inside me.

“You’re choking me so good. Taking me so fucking good,” he croaks, his hips jerking as he pins me to the bed with his hips to keep me still. “Feel me twitching?”

“Yeah.” I clear my throat and try again. “Yes, and it’s…” My face flames, but when his head snaps up, his eyes narrowing, I push on. “It’s dripping down my… it’s dripping on the bed.”

“Down your ass.” His lips hover over mine, his pants harsh and spilling erotically over mine. “My cum, our cum, is dripping down your ass?”

I nod, a fresh wave of desire washing over me.

“That’s how we’ll prep it one day.” His pupils seem to grow, his grip on my wrists tightening at the thought. “With your juices. With mine.”

My eyes must widen because Crew chuckles then, the sound low and… loving?

He softens before me, a tenderness falling over him. “It might sting when I pull out. You ready?”

I nod, leaning into his cheek when it meets mine.

“You’re perfection, you know that?” he whispers, mouth coaxing mine into a soft, sweet kiss as he pulls from inside me.

He’s right; it does sting a bit, my body rushing to remove him and clenching tight in his absence.

“Wanna take a bath with me?” he wonders sweetly, quietly adding, “Or a shower alone?”

I link my hands in his, my smile slow. “A bath sounds nice.”

Crew’s eyes light up, and he pulls himself from the bed, quickly leaning over to kiss me once more as he takes my hand and helps me up.

We walk into the bathroom, hand in hand, and I sit, watching as he fills the tub, sliding inside before I settle between his legs.

We’re silent a long time, both coming down from the high and settling into where we are now, a feeling of contentment slowly filling in the holes of doubt I dug into my own mind over the years.

The warm, soapy water paired with the soft, heated skin at my back is so relaxing, my eyes begin to flutter closed, right as Crew buries his nose in my neck, nuzzling me from behind.

“Sweets?”

“Hmm?”

He brushes my hair from my neck, his lips feathering along my spine. “You mean what you said? You love me? Like a woman loves a man she won’t let go of? Like she loves a man she’ll never forget?”

The hint of shyness quieting his tone is so surprising, so completely charming, my stomach flutters with girlish buoyancy, my lips curving into a soft smile, and I nod against him. “Yeah, just like that.”

Crew’s quiet for several minutes following my response, and I almost think he’s fallen asleep, but then his hold on me tightens, his hand finding mine beneath the water. He laces his fingers through mine, shifting my shoulders as he places my palm over his left pec, over the tattoo there.

My eyes fall to the intricate design, to the triquetra hidden in the center, the three interconnecting loops creating a circle at the center, but as I look closer, I spot the veiled spot in the center. Numbers, written as roman numerals, curve the protected center, coveted, and caged in with chains, a small lock at its edge, free of a keyhole.

Forever fused closed.

But the numbers aren’t numbers at all. It’s a date, one branded in the back of my mind as it’s branded on his skin.

The day he gave me my first kiss.

Tears pool in my eyes, my palm shaking against him, fingers pressing at the memory.

Crew speaks in the lowest of timbres. “I loved you when I shouldn’t have, and I’ve loved you every day since.”

My throat runs dry, elation and shock entwining together, and sparking a flame deep inside me, warming places I never knew could be reached. The part I buried beneath insecurities and repetitive cycles of losing the one man I was convinced was meant for me, even when the world worked so hard to prove me wrong.

I hoped for a piece of him, but I never believed he’d give me more than the warmth of his worry, or strength of his hands. I never dared to dream he might have always been mine.

“Crew…”

His forehead falls to mine, and my eyes close.

This, me and him, and the things we did with the words we whispered, seem surreal.

Unfortunately, when I dream, I always wake before the best part. That’s when disappointment sets in.

I can only hope this is different, and Crew won’t find another reason to push me away, but I won’t spend my moments with him waiting for the last one.

I’m going to enjoy this while I can.

While he’s mine.

Just in case someday soon, he isn’t.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Davis

Crew’s nose buries in my hair, skating along the base of my neck and drawing goose bumps to its surface. His mouth curves against its place at the tip of my spine, telling me he’s pleased, but still, I don’t budge, keeping my eyes closed, my body still.
