“We will, Nick,” I promised, tilting my chin up to meet his eyes. “I’m not going anywhere.”

“Well, I am—away from here, anyway,” he said, smiling. “But you’re coming with me and wherever we go, we’re going there together.” Then he leaned down and kissed me and whispered, “We’re going to be together forever, darlin’. And this time you can believe it’s a promise I won’t break.”

“I’ll hold you to that,” I told him, putting my hand over his, where he was still cupping my abdomen. Soon the breeding bump he had given me would turn into a baby bump—I was sure. And then Nick and I would form a family together—a big family like the one I had always wanted.

This time I could trust his promise—we would never be parted again.

EPILOGUE

It turned out that we didn’t have to move halfway around the world to satisfy the terms of Nick’s punishment. After checking it out, we found there weren’t any wolf packs around my own home in Massachusetts. Also there were plenty of wild forests for Nick to wander in on full moon nights when he became his beast. So he moved up to be with me and I was able to keep my job, while he started another law practice. He never lacked for clients—he was a damn fine attorney and his reputation preceded him.

So that’s where we are now—living happily together in my adopted home state.

As for the brands that bind us together, they still burn and glow when we’re around each other. But by mutual agreement, we ignore them now. They might have served a purpose once—to tie us together when we were younger. Now that we’re older, however, I’ll be damned if I let them keep us apart.

I think Nick still feels guilty sometimes when he feels the brand burning as he takes me, but I’m working on helping him overcome that. One way I do that is by following him out on full moon nights and offering myself to his beast.

The first time I did this, Nick was shocked when he came back to himself in human form the next day. Despite my assurances that I loved his beast as much as I loved him, he was still surprised that I would allow myself to be taken by him in his Fur Form again—this time without being strapped down to the breeding bench.

But I love the feeling of the big, shaggy wolf-man creature riding and rutting inside me—knotting me long and hard and filling me with his seed. It’s a wild and incredibly erotic experience and I told Nick so.

My strategy seems to have worked, too. Once he finally realized that I meant business and I didn’t give a damn about the so-called “Unbreakable Laws,” Nick started caring less about them too.

Which is a good thing, since a few months after we finally moved in together and got married, my belly really did begin to swell. We’re not sure yet if the baby is a boy or a girl, but it will be equally welcome either way. And the important thing is that Nick no longer fears that he might have a son that also has a beast inside instead of a regular wolf. We’re both going to love our baby no matter what and I know Nick’s going to make a wonderful father.

I guess there’s nothing else to say because as I look out the window, I can see the full moon rising and I know that Nick is waiting for me. He has been so many things to me in the time I’ve known him—blood-sib…foster brother… protector and now he’s my lover, my husband, and my best friend.

I can’t imagine my life without him and now I don’t have to. With a final glance at the moon, I step out the door to meet him.

Tonight will be a wild breeding and I can’t wait.

THE END?

MAYBE NOT.
