“Derek?”

I turned back to Camille, realizing she’d been trying to get my attention for a while now.

“You alright?” she asked.

“What are you looking at?” Ryan looked over his shoulder at the table. “Ooh, that’s what you’re looking at.”

Camille glanced at Emerson before she gave Ryan a glare. She grabbed his face and forced his face forward. “Enough of that.”

“Too bad she’s on a date,” Ryan said.

“I wouldn’t ask her out anyway.” I finally turned my gaze on my food and tried to ignore her, to give her some privacy because she had no idea I was sitting there, admiring her gorgeous figure in that little black dress.

“Why?” Ryan asked.

I drank from my beer. “Because she’s my assistant.”

The penthouse was quiet when I walked in.

It was dark outside because the summer sun had set.

The three of us had left the restaurant, and Emerson never saw us.

I sat at the dining table in front of my computer and stared at the black screen. My hands came together in front of my lips as I considered the work that needed my attention, the changes I needed to make to the fuel line and propulsion thruster.

But all I could think about was Emerson.

I closed my eyes and tried to clear my thoughts, to put her out of my mind because she was my assistant. I shouldn’t think about her like that at all. I told myself I was just horny, that I hadn’t had sex since I’d dumped Fleur. If that was the case, I could just stream porn right then and there.

But I didn’t want to do that.

Not when there was one woman fresh in my mind, as if she was next to me at that very table.

Once their dinner was concluded, they would go to her apartment or his.

They would fuck.

When I pictured it in my head, the guy wasn’t really there.

It was just her.

She kissed him hard with those full lips. Those black nails dug deep into his hair as she panted into his mouth, as she moaned when he made her feel good. Her dress was hiked up because she was so ready that she didn’t even want to slow down long enough to take it off.

He thrust.

He thrust again.

I thrust again.

I pinned her hands above her head and watched her face as I thrust my big dick between her legs. I watched her eyes water as she came, whispering my name in gratitude because I gave her exactly what she needed.

“Jesus…” I opened my eyes and tuned out the sound of her fictional moans.

I hit the keyboard so the screen would light up again.

The screen showed my email, which was flooded with notifications from some of my students, my assistant at the company, and a bunch of other random stuff. I had some things to work on, but I exited out of the screen and found my book in the document.

The cursor blinked at me.

My dick was hard in my jeans. I could lube up and jerk off. I could defeat these thoughts for good.

But I continued to stare at the cursor.

My hand went to the mouse pad, and I opened a new document.

My chest rose and fell with my slightly labored breathing, and I could feel the heat flush my skin. I imagined it was red and tinted, warm to the touch. All the muscles of my torso were tight, like I was about to be physical with someone, even though I was the only person there.

My hands went to the keyboard, and I started to type.

The wildness in her eyes was subdued by the confidence in her steady gaze, the way she stared at him as if this was the only place in the world she wanted to be that night. Wanted by a million men in a city with a million beds that could keep her warm, she chose to spend her evening with just one special man.

His chest rose and fell in an irregular pattern, unable to disguise the excitement he felt staring at her. His desire couldn’t be hidden within his exterior, and it definitely couldn’t be hidden by the look in his gaze.

They were windows to his soul.

His hands tightened into fists because they wanted to rip that small black dress off her body, to see more than just her bare back, which was already too sexy for him to handle. Soft brown hair framed her face, slightly pulled back, a couple strands loose…making her the kind of beauty in portraits in museums. Her makeup was dark around her eyes, a smoky effect across her eyelids that reached past the corners of her eyes. Her thick mascara gave her an even more mysterious look. And that dark shade of lipstick…

It made him shake.

She stepped closer to him, her eyes locked on his, carrying the confidence of a queen. She’d searched for a man worthy of pleasing her.
