“And that, Your Majesty,” is how a male and female fuck,” Vik’tor told the Empress. “I hope we gave you a satisfactory demonstration.”

The Empress clasped her hands together. “Oh, more that satisfactory—amazing!” she exclaimed. “I cannot wait to feel the Dark Baron filling me in the way your male filled you,” she told me. “As a reward for such a fine demonstration, your rights to trade with us have been well established, Baron Vik’tor. You are both dismissed—you will be my guests at the palace tonight before you make your way home tomorrow.”

She clapped her hands and suddenly the floating golden mattress was gone and Vik’tor and I were standing at the foot of the dais, holding hands again.

I have to admit, I felt dazed and not myself at all. I had never had such an intense orgasm in my life and I was still weak in the knees from both the pleasure and the Vision, which seemed to have taken a lot out of me.

Vik’tor seemed to understand this because he bent down and scooped me into his arms. Cradling me close to his broad chest, he made his way down the curving golden path that led back to the vast double crystal doors.

“You don’t have to carry me,” I protested. “I’m just a little tired, that’s all.”

“Maybe I want to carry you, little girl—you think about that?” he growled, gazing down at me. “Now that I fucked you silly, you can’t seem to stand, so I think it’s best—don’t you?”

“Fucked me silly?” I repeated. For some reason this phrase make me laugh. I just felt so good after the intense orgasm—in fact, I couldn’t seem to stop smiling. “All right,” I told him. “Carry me—see if I care.”

“You’d care if I dropped you—but I won’t.” Vik’tor looked at me tenderly. “I’ll never let you fall, baby.”

And then he carried me out of the throne room to the long corridor where Thallia was waiting to take us to our room.

FORTY-ONE

VIK’TOR

“Well, I guess our vow to be platonic friends didn’t last very long,” Natalie remarked as we washed up in the golden bathing pool that sat in the corner of the luxurious suite the Empress had assigned to us.

But she didn’t seem too upset by the idea—in fact, she still had a big smile on her face which made me grin back at her. It was the smile of a woman who had been well-pleasured and I liked knowing I had been the one to put it there.

“Yeah, I guess not,” I murmured, leaning back as the warm water lapped around my sides. The pool was big—like everything in the room it was built for someone about two feet taller than me. “Sorry about that, baby,” I told her.

“I’m not.” Natalie looked at me seriously. “I’m going to cherish this memory of you, Vik’tor—for always.”

I felt my heart clench in my chest and the smile fell away from my face. If only I could have Bonded her to me! If that had been possible, I was sure she wouldn’t be talking about “cherishing the memory” of our time together. Instead, we’d be planning our future. But that was impossible and we both knew it.

“Damn it,” I muttered, looking down at the water. “If only we’d Bonded!”

“What?” She looked at me sharply. “What do you mean?”

I shook my head.

“It’s nothing. Just that usually the way people Bond is through sex. But of course you and I didn’t because I’m a half-blood.”

“But even if we’d Bonded, we’d still have problems…things that are standing between us,” Natalie pointed out.

Suddenly I didn’t give a damn about all the reasons we couldn’t be together. I wanted to ask her to reconsider—wanted to beg her to stay with me, to be fucking honest. But pride stopped me from saying any of that.

“Yeah, you’re right, baby,” I muttered. “I’ll cherish our time together too. And tomorrow…” I sighed. “Tomorrow I’ll take you home—back to Earth.”

There was silence for a minute that stretched painfully between us. I saw Natalie looking at me from the corner of her eye like she was wishing I might say something, but what did she want me to say? We lived on two different worlds—literally—that were completely incompatible with each other. Nothing was going to change that—not even the fact that I was beginning to think I loved her.

“So tell me,” I said, to break the awkward silence that had fallen between us. “What was that last vision you had? You did have one, didn’t you? Right as you were coming?”

She blushed, her smooth brown cheeks going dark.

“Well, yes I did. I saw pretty much what the Empress wants to happen—I saw the Dark Emperor guy she showed us kneeling in front of the throne and asking her to be with him.”

“Well, isn’t that fucking romantic,” I remarked dryly. “I’m glad somebody gets to keep the female of their dreams.”
