"If I hadn't forgiven you, I wouldn't be here," she told him. "And I was never really mad at you, only myself. It was obvious you didn't like what you were making me do. But I kept making you do it to me."

"Abby that's insane. I had all the power. You had none. None of that was your choice."

"I think it was."

"Abby, it was a no-limit, nonconsent weekend, I was respons-"

But Abby was having none of it. "If I had stood up on that lawn and told you that my mother was a slut and I was terrified of being one too, would you still have made me go?"

He didn't even have to think about it. "No. I would have stopped everything, taken off the collar, and we would have talked about it."

Abby put her hands on his chest. "Okay. So it may have been no-limits for me, but you have limits, Mark. If you'd seen that I was about to open up, you would have made that a priority because our relationship isn't about punishing me, it's about actually having a relationship. And, okay, it may be a relationship that includes spanking and ginger root and enemas but it is a relationship, not just a- a- service that you buy from me with soap and lingerie and expensive shoes.

"We both had communication issues that weekend. And you may be a lot of things, Mark, but you're not a sadist and you're not some kind of creep who gets off on degrading women by making them piss outside like an animal."

Mark's mouth twitched. "Don't judge other people's kinks, Abby." She gave him a sharp look and he smiled. "Okay, yeah, there's some stuff that even I, secretly, think is a little fucked up. But the key word here is secretly. Don't say it out loud when you're with other people. Judge silently, little grasshopper."

She nodded. "I remember. Rules and respect."

Before he even thought about it he said, "There's my good girl."

She looked at him, eyes hopeful. "So, does that mean you'll try? With me?"

He smiled. "Yes, pet. We'll try."

Abby got off him suddenly and went for the collar in the pile of ashes of the fireplace.

"Leave it," he told her.

"But-"

"I said leave it," he commanded, zipping up his fly. He got up off the floor and held out his hand to her. "Come on." She took it and together they went down the hall to the bedroom. Mark led her to the center of the room. "Turn around and face the wall," he told her. She did and heard him pull open one of the dresser drawers. Then she felt a slight pressure as he slid another collar around her neck. He buckled it and guided her to the full length mirror off to the right, hanging on the back of the door.

Abby gasped in delight. It was beautiful. It was leather and similar to her black play collar in width, 2 inches, but the similarities ended there. It was fur-lined in a rich, dark green and the leather itself was a lighter jade. Instead of one ring in the middle, it had two hanging a few inches apart from each other. In between them was a silver plate and a filigreed 'pet' inscribed on it.

"I had it lined," he told her, "because you wear collars longer than any other woman I've ever had sessions with and I want you to be as comfortable as possible."

"Mark, it's beautiful!" she exclaimed. Then blushed. "Sorry. Sir."

He laughed. "I'm glad you like it." He kissed her forehead and returned to the drawer. "I had a full set made, wrists, ankles, and thighs. All the same." He brought the wrist cuffs over and attached them. They were the same two-tone lush green and had o-rings.

"So she was measuring me for cuffs," Abby declared.

"She makes them. And other items. She's very skilled. I told her I needed a set made and she asked if we could have lunch. So I invited her over. I think she assumed I just wanted a nicer play set. But I wanted you to have something no one else had worn for me. And I wanted it to be completely yours. Hence the 'pet' engraved on the front. I've never called anyone else that."

She turned to look at him. "Really?"

He shook his head. "No. It never occurred to me until I first saw you and I thought, "She's so fucking cute I just want to pet her and take her home."

She laughed and shoved him a little. "I knew you were up to no good! With your little grin and your wandering eye."

"Honey, when a woman as fine as you bends over under the hood of a car, I'm going to notice."

She sighed. "And here I was hoping you were admiring my fine skills as a mechanic."
