He closed the door after watching her get into her car and pull away from the curb. It was a tempting thought, Abby as his submissive. But it was a lot to wish for and he didn’t want to set himself up for disappointment. He resolved to enjoy her for the time he had her and not think too much about anything else.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

On Monday morning Abby was again hunched over her desk squinting at printouts that were giving her a headache. She wished the memory of her weekend with Mark was enough to dull the pain of returning to work for Kessler. According to the budget he’d given her, they’d have to find even cheaper service vendors than they were already using. She shook her head at the ridiculous demands.

The Custer was losing money, that much was true, but skimping on amenities wasn’t the way to counteract that decline. She might have thought that Kessler was skimming, claiming he was using higher quality linen and towel services, for example, but actually employing cheaper ones and pocketing the difference in cost. But so far all the vendors listed on the hotel’s accounts were accurate.

She picked up a sheet for a Blue Orchid Floral Service and scanned the invoice. She frowned. She couldn’t recall the Custer having that many flowers either in the lobby or the elevator vestibules. There were some large potted trees in the lobby, but not so many that it justified the enormous monthly fee the Custer paid to have the plants changed and maintained. She wondered how the Floral Service had escaped Kessler’s spending cuts.

Even though she’d just arrived at work less than two hours ago, she glanced at the clock on the wall and groaned.

Mark slid out from underneath a 4X4 to find Hawk smirking at him. He wiped his greasy hands on a rag.

“You weren’t at Maria’s Friday night,” Hawk announced.

Mark just looked him. “Why are you telling me shit I already know?”

Hawk grinned. “Vegas wasn’t there either. In fact, neither one of you were there last Friday, either, if memory serves.”

Mark sighed and stood up. “Well, aren’t you Sherlock fucking Holmes?”

“You did her when you took her home that night, didn’t you? Must’ve been damn good if you keep going back.”

“No, that’s you, Hawk, that doesn’t sleep with them more than once.”

Hawk’s grin got impossibly wider. “So you did sleep with her. She freaky like you?”

Mark felt his cock swell a little behind his fly at the memory of how well Abby had taken to his dominance of her. He hadn’t played with that many inexperienced subs over the years and unsurprisingly it intensified his attraction to her. Seeing her struggle with and ultimately give in to his demands was the ultimate aphrodisiac.

He turned away from Hawk to hide his burgeoning erection and sorted through some tools. He didn’t know how far things would eventually go with Abby but one thing was for sure, next Friday wasn’t going to come fast enough.

Abby froze as Mark ducked under her open garage door. Her first thought was that she was a bit of a mess. Her hair was pulled back, but not in any way that looked good. She had a ratty t-shirt on and jeans. She held a coupling in her dirty hand.

“It’s not Friday,” she told him, for lack of anything better to say.

He grinned at her. “Nope. I just wanted to see how you were doing with the car.” He checked under the hood and examined the parts she had laid out on the tarp. “You really do spend all your time on this.”

She nodded. “Yes, but the TV was delivered today. So, I was thinking of knocking off early and watching a movie. You could stay.” Oh, God, she thought. Did she just invite him to watch a movie? It sounded dumb, even to her own ears. But then again, he was here without her having asked him over, so what did that say?

“I’ll order pizza,” he told her. “Unless you’ve learned to cook in the last week.”

She shook her head. “No, but I shouldn’t-”

“Abby, you can indulge once in a while,” he told her in a tone that brooked no more arguments.

Abby washed her hands in the bathroom sink as Mark called in their order. He thumbed through the stack of unopened movies on the coffee table.

“I haven’t seen any of these,” he called to her. “Which one would I like?”

Abby thought about it. “Chinatown. He smacks her around. She likes him anyway. You’ll love it.” Mark laughed out loud.

Abby changed into a slightly less ratty t-shirt and came out of the bedroom as the doorbell rang. Mark paid for the pizza and they spread it out over the coffee table. He turned on the movie and she snuggled up next to him with a slice.
