“You need to go upstairs and get dressed,” I tell Aiden when he bends over his plate and tries to lick off the syrup that is leaking down his chin and onto his top, where he spreads it on his shirt. “I think it’s a bath first.” Standing up, I take the plate from him. “Go upstairs and undress. I’ll be right up.” He nods his head and runs upstairs. “Don’t touch anything!” I yell back at him.

I put the plate in the sink, and suddenly feel him behind me. “When you wear your hair up, it gives me easy access.”

I laugh while he puts his hands around my waist and kisses the side of my neck. I move my head to the side, and his lips land on my sweet spot, the one right behind my ear, the one he knows all too well. I close my eyes, and my head falls on his shoulder. “Mommy, I’m ready!” I hear being yelled.

“Our son has impeccable timing.” He laughs into my neck and lets me go. “I’ll clean up. You go get him ready.”

“Okay,” I say, walking away from him. “In case I haven’t told you”—he looks at me over his shoulder—“I’m really, really glad you’re here.”

His side smile makes him that much hotter, that and he’s cleaning dishes. “I’m really, really glad I’m here, too,” he says, and I just nod, then turn to go upstairs and start the bath for our son.

I get Aiden ready and then get dressed. Grabbing my black jeans, I slide them on and grab the white chiffon crisscross long-sleeved top. Tucking it in, I snap it at the chest and tie the cuffs. It’s flowy and fresh; it’s both casual and dressy. I grab my nude ballerina shoes and walk downstairs. I walk to the kitchen and hear Aiden and Luca talking. “And that’s why hockey is the best sport of life.”

“But I like soccer,” Aiden says to him.

“You can like both,” Luca tells him, and when I walk into the room, Luca looks up, and he smiles. “Look at Mom, isn’t she beautiful?”

“Yeah.” He just shrugs his shoulders. “I’m hungry.”

“You are not hungry,” Luca tells him. “Let’s go.” He pushes off from the table, and Aiden runs out of the room. “You look beautiful,” he tells me and kisses my lips softly.

“You have lip gloss,” I tell him, wiping his lips off with my thumb.

“Let’s go before we start something, and I walk out of here with a tent in my pants,” he says, and I laugh.

“He did tell me you have a big penis.” Luca looks over with huge eyes. “Bigger than his.”

“I need to explain to my son about the bro code.” He laughs, putting on his shoes and looking down at Aiden who smiles up at him.

When we walk out, Luca hands me my keys to lock the door while he gets Aiden in the car and waits by the door. I smile at him and get inside the car while he slams the door. “And they said chivalry is dead,” I say, turning to look at my son who is on an iPad. “What is that?”

“It’s Daddy’s; he buy it for me,” Aiden tells me while he turns it on and sounds come out of it. I look over at Luca who gets in the car and puts on his sunglasses.

“So you bought him an iPad?” I ask him, looking over.

“It’s to keep him busy if there is traffic and stuff.” He smiles at me and then looks in the back at Aiden. “You ready to go and meet your crazy uncle Nick?”

“Yeah!” he shouts and puts his hands in the air.

Pulling up in front of Nick’s home, I look around and see that it’s almost like our subdivision. Luca turns off the car and looks at me. “I should apologize now for anything that he might say,” he starts off. “And don’t listen to anything he says about me.”

I turn and look over at the front door that is now open, and Nick comes out, shouting behind him. “The DiMarcos are here.”

Chapter Fifteen

Luca

I look up and see Nick waving like a madman, and Mona coming out to meet him, wrapping her arms around his waist. “This should be fun,” I say under my breath, getting out and walking around the car to find Eliahn unbuckling Aiden.

“I should just apologize now for whatever he says.” I look at Eliahn who just shakes her head.

“It’s going to be fine,” she says, and I want to hold her hand while we walk to the door, but if I know Nick he’s going to point it out right away. So instead we walk toward the house both of us holding Aiden’s hand.

“There he is,” Nick says, holding out his hands. “My favorite nephew.”
