“Something has come up.” I still have no clue how to deal with the information Sam shared with me earlier. It’s the last thing I want. Two days ago, I would have reveled in this. Been a smug asshole that I’d been right about Grace, but that’s far from what I feel now.

“Your old man is happy.” Chase nods to the dance floor where he’s spinning Grace around. He is, it’s written all over his face. I pull at the collar of my shirt wanting to take this stupid ass bowtie off. “Stop, you’ll fuck it up.” Chase smacks at my hand. I glare at him. “You still planning on heading back tonight?”

“No.”

“That was quick.” Chase chuckles, enjoying this far too much. “Calm the fuck down. If you want to be with her, be with her. Doesn’t matter if your dad married her mom. I mean, the royals back in the day—” I cut him off with a glare that only makes him laugh. “I’m fucking with you. Never thought I’d see the day.”

“I know.” I don’t give a shit about any of that. What I do give a shit about is the fallout of Grace leaving my father when she gets whatever it is she’s after. Dad spins her around the dance floor. She’s either a really good actress or something isn’t right.

“And there they are,” Chase mutters from beside me. I turn my attention back toward the entryway. Of course, when I look away for two seconds, that’s when Molly comes walking in.

My cock hardens at the sight of her in that fucking dress. She’s all dolled up, and I’m not sure if I love it or hate it. I notice a few other fucks glancing toward her. I’m sure they sense the fresh meat. I don’t think Molly has any idea that she screams innocence.

I’m starting to understand why some men don’t care if they have to throw their money at a woman to have her as long as she’d be theirs. The hell has the girl done to me? She’s not only turned me inside out, but I’m not sure who I am anymore.

Molly smiles at something Emily says to her as they come farther into the tent. Then her head suddenly turns, and her eyes come straight to mine. The smile on her lips falters. A tightness fills my chest when she pulls her gaze quickly away from mine. What the fuck?

Is she pissed? I suppose I did blackmail her, but I wasn’t serious. Was I? Honestly, I’m not sure what I’m capable of at this point when it comes to this girl. What I do know is that she’s mine.

“Incoming,” Chase says under his breath. I turn to see what he’s talking about and spot the Hancock sisters zeroing in on us. Shit. They are like vultures, always circling around, waiting for the perfect opportunity.

“I thought they would have been married by now,” I say without moving my mouth. “This is your fault,” I add. Chase attracts female attention more than I do, especially in this circle. He’s nicer than I am. But sometimes I think my asshole attitude only makes them work harder.

“Ash, you’re back.” Courtney beams up at me. In heels, she’s a few inches over six foot, but that doesn’t even put her eye level with me. She’s the oldest of the two Hancock sisters. Samantha is a year younger, I believe.

“For now. I’ll be leaving soon.”

“You're blocking the bar.” Emily cuts in. She nudges between the sisters to get to the bar.

“Think you had enough last night,” Chase tells her. She ignores him. I do the same but to everyone else around us. Molly is the only one holding my attention. Her sweet honey smell fills the air around me, calming my irritation.

“You’re breathtaking tonight, Molly.” She dips her head, her cheeks blooming a soft pink.

The blush travels down to her cleavage. There is too damn much of it showing. I want to reach out and yank to try to close the gap, but I control myself. While she is stunning, I hate that the makeup covers the freckles that sprinkle her nose. Ones I’d memorized last night as she slept in my arms. Yes, there is something wrong with me, but I’ve always been a stickler for details, and I want to know every single one of them when it comes to Molly.

“What am I? Chopped liver?” Emily turns back around, handing Molly a glass of champagne.

“You look nice as well,” I tell my sister who rolls her eyes at me. I don’t miss the edge of her attitude. It's not normal for her. Not toward me, at least, but then again, I’ve been gone for months. I’ve missed a lot. She’s the one that had to be here for the merging of families.
