I rocked into him harder, relishing the look on his face as he tried to hold in his noises too.

“Fuck,” he hissed, dropping his hand from my mouth only to replace it with his lips. He kissed me hard and fast and hungry, both our bodies tensing as we crashed together, racing toward that sharp edge. “Luna,” he moaned into my mouth.

I kissed him right back, whimpering into the kiss as my release shot down my spine, my muscles trembling with the intensity of it as a million little tingles erupted beneath my skin. Brad kissed me harder, his release following mine as he hardened inside me another degree before he spilled into me.

We caught our breath between kisses, slowing as our bodies trembled from the pleasure as we came down. I leaned my forehead against his, relief and appreciation flooding my entire being until I laughed softly.

“What is it?” he asked, his voice laced with pleasure.

“You never make me feel bad about this kind of thing.”

“What kind of thing?”

I rocked against him for emphasis. “For wanting you like this. For needing you on this level.”

He drew back, cupping my face again. “The only thing I ever want to do is make you happy, make you feel good.”

“You do,” I said. “You have no idea how much you do.”

Our gazes locked, and the words were beating out a rhythm in my heart.

I love you, I love you, I love you.

But I couldn’t say them, couldn’t bring them to the tip of my tongue. I was terrified he wouldn’t feel the same. Terrified this was all just a game, a role, a fun experiment. So, coward that I was, I kept my mouth shut, and wished on every star above us that I’d find the courage to tell him before our time was up.

We only had two more days, but I knew that even a lifetime with him wouldn’t be enough.

CHAPTER 14

Brad

“And the stand-out employee award goes to Sara Stone,” Ezra announced from his position on the stage, Ava standing next to him holding a stack of envelopes in her hands.

The employee in question smiled and headed up to the stage, gratefully taking the envelope Ava offered her before hugging them both and heading back to her table to the sound of applause.

Ezra continued with the awards, handing a unique and tailored award to half his employees. This entire retreat had been a company award in its own right, and the last party of the event was nothing short of epic. The ballroom had been transformed into an eighty’s throwback extravaganza, complete with bursts of neon colors over every available surface, disposable cameras at every table, and more than a few retro-style glasses and accessories to pick from to wear.

Everyone was dressed accordingly, myself and Luna included. I wore a button-down shirt that was speckled with flecks of white and gray with bright teal, pink, and yellow shapes over it. Luna looked downright ravishing in a wide-leg jumpsuit that was constructed of a million little sequins all sectioned off in bright colors of blue, yellow, green, and pink. Her shoulders were bare, the neckline plunging just shy of her cleavage, and her long red hair was in this irresistible messy tease that rose off her head before cascading down one shoulder.

She took my breath away no matter what she was wearing, and I knew I needed to tell her. I needed to tell her that I’d fallen for her, that I loved her, that I didn’t want us to end just because tonight was the last night of the retreat.

“I’ve spoken to each of you individually,” Ezra continued after all the awards had been handed out, drawing my thoughts to the present. “So I know you all understand the level of admiration, pride, and appreciation I have for each and every one of you. Close-to-Custom wouldn’t be the company it is without your hard work and dedication, and I hope that this little vacation from the regular nine-to-five has shown you that. Our little company started with a dream of bringing better fits to the masses, and it’s grown exponentially in the past year. Even with that being said, Ava and I both know there is more ground to cover.” Ezra glanced at me, flashing me a knowing look that made hope course through my veins. “We believe expansion is on the rise with the prospects of new investors,” he continued, winking at me before returning his gaze to the audience as a whole. “And that means we’ll have more growth opportunities for you, for the brands we work with, and more.” He turned to Ava, interlocking their hands before facing the audience once more. “Thank you all for a fantastic year. Let’s enjoy the hell out of our last night of vacation!”
