Oh fuck me.

I was in love with him.

I snapped my eyes open, the revelation hitting me with the force of a truck.

I’d always loved Brad, that was easy to tell, but it felt like a part of me had always been in love with him but I’d never acknowledged it, and now that I did?

Shit, shit, shit.

I’d just gotten out of a relationship that was way worse than I’d even realized. And I was already in love? What if he didn’t feel the same? What if we got home and he went back to being him—the smooth-talking, charming, playboy he’d always been?

How could I survive that?

How could I already be so entangled in him that my heart ached at the thought?

I set my phone on the table next to my laptop and shook my head at myself. I took a few deep breaths, and settled myself on focusing solely on the present. I could crumble and worry about everything in eight days. For now, I just wanted to revel in the bliss I’d been in seconds before I’d taken that visualization trip.

Because these last few days had been the best of my life, and I wasn’t about to stop because I was worried about the future. Future me could deal with that. Present me just wanted to keep having fun, keep experiencing what it was like to be in a healthy relationship, real or not.

The front door opened, and Brad strolled in, his lips turning up in a smile when he spotted me. He scanned the array of sketches, some on the bed, some on the floor, a half-dozen on the table, and arched a brow at me.

“You’ve been busy today,” he said.

“I have,” I said, my heart racing at just the sight of him.

He peeled off his suit jacket, somehow the move looking sexier than when he stepped under the shower water completely naked.

Okay, maybe not more, but certainly equal.

God, I loved looking at him without any restraints. Loved looking at him and feeling like he was mine. What would’ve happened if we’d tried this for real years ago? What would our lives look like? We may very well be engaged if we worked this well together.

But did he want it to be real?

No. Nope. Nu-uh.

Present Luna needed to focus.

“How did the event go with the owners?” I asked after he’d rid himself of his tie, and crossed the room to me.

He slid a hand around my waist, tugging me to him and wrapping his arms around me. He sighed contently, like he’d been waiting to get me in his arms the entire morning. It made me light up from the inside out.

“Really well,” he answered, pulling back just enough to look down at me. “Craig was there, constantly butting in, but that’s to be expected. He’s a smart investor, but has barely any tact. Either way, I like Ezra. Even if he doesn’t go with me I feel like I’ve made a great acquaintance.”

“I love that,” I said, smiling up at him. “I have news too.”

“What’s up?”

“I’m finished.”

He glanced around the room, then the sleeping laptop. “You’re done?”

I nodded.

A smile spread over his lips. “Did you publish the site?”

I shook my head. “Not yet.”

“When are you planning to?”

“Soon. I was hoping…only if you want to, of course…”

“Anything,” he said when I hesitated.

“Maybe you could help me hire a marketing team? To help push it once I hit publish? I’ll pay you back, of course. And we can draw up a contract if you want a percentage in the line.”

“Done and done,” he said, scooping me off my feet and spinning me around. “No contract. No percentage. I want to invest in you, solely for you.”

Happy tears lined my eyes. “Really?”

“Really.” He brought his lips to mine, brushing the barest of kisses over them. “I’m so fucking proud of you.”

Heat radiated the length of my body, and I shifted in his embrace, locking my ankles behind his back while crushing my mouth against his. He groaned against the kiss, his hands shifting to my ass as he walked us toward the bed.

“Missed you all morning,” he said between kisses as he laid me on the bed and settled himself between my thighs.

“Same,” I said, frantically searching for his mouth again. I couldn’t get enough of this man, I was practically starved for him. I went for the buttons of his shirt, undoing them quickly before pushing it off of his chest.

He took it off the rest of the way, leaning up to take mine off for me. We were a frenzy of kisses and touching, clothes flying this way and that until we were completely bare and he was between my legs again.

“Fuck, baby,” he said, gliding his cock through my wetness. “Were you thinking about me like this?”

“Yes,” I admitted, arching into his touch.
