My lips were still swollen from the amount of kissing we’d done in the back of the Lyft, but bless that driver, he hadn’t said a word. I’d texted the girls to say not to wait up or worry about me, and filled them in on what I’d learned about Dennis—that he’d scurried back home after Ezra threatened to have him arrested for trespassing. “I think it’s a good thing.”

“What?” I asked.

He turned to face me, pure mischief rippling over his features. “That we had our first fight.”

I bit back a laugh. “That was more of a heartbreak moment than a fight,” I said, my body and soul still reeling from the way the night had turned. I went from thinking I’d ruined and lost everything to being handed the greatest gift on the planet—him.

“Either way, we get to make up now.”

Warmth shot down my spine at his words, at the look in his eyes as he reached for me. He slid his hands around my hips, gently turning me until my back was facing him. He kissed my neck, then over my bare shoulder as his fingers made their way up to the zipper of my jumpsuit.

“May I?” he asked, the formal, polite question making anticipation flare in my core.

I never knew if he was going to be dominant or submissive, gentle or rough, and I loved the thrill of finding out which version I’d get each time. It was easy when I loved them all.

“Yes,” I said, chill bumps erupting over my skin as he dragged the zipper down the line of my spine.

The suit loosened around my body, and he gently slid the straps off my arms until all the fabric fell down my body and pooled at my feet. I wiggled out of my heels, then stepped out of the fabric, all while he trailed a line of kisses down my spine that had my blood thrumming in my veins.

“Luna,” he said, spinning me to face him. “I’m sorry.”

I furrowed my brow. “I’m the one who’s sorry,” I countered.

“No,” he said, trailing his fingertips along every inch of my bare skin, teasing my breasts over the lace covering them. “I’m sorry I held it back so long.”

I swallowed hard, my heart thumping against my chest.

“Sorry I didn’t just tell you how I felt,” he said. “It would’ve prevented all of this.”

“Same,” I said. “I should’ve said something a long time ago.”

He wet his lips, eyes grazing my body in a slow, hungry way that made my stomach flip. “Will you let me make it up to you?” His smirk illuminated a thousand promises of endless pleasure, and I swear I almost melted right then and there.

I reached for him, slowly undoing his button-down shirt, then his pants, until he matched me in just his underwear. “How about we make it up to each other?” I asked, knowing we both had a hand in this mess tonight. Both of us allowed fear to stop us from telling each other the truth.

Never again.

“Deal,” he said, and his mouth was on mine, sealing the agreement with a kiss that was purely primal.

Heat spiraled down the center of me as I ran my hands over his bare chest, tipping my head back and opening for him. He swept his tongue into my mouth, curling it just the way I liked whether he was in my mouth or between my thighs. His arms snaked around me, bringing our bodies flush as he walked us backward toward the bed until we crashed against it, him holding me to his chest as we fell and never broke our kiss.

Brad rolled us to the side, slipping one thigh between my legs as his hands explored my body and mine his. We’d done this a dozen times already, but this one felt so inherently different, because this time, I wasn’t questioning anything. I wasn’t wondering what it meant, what this would do to our friendship, or what would happen when it all came crashing down.

Now I was able to fully lose myself in the sensations he sparked in my body, my mind settling in the solidarity that we both loved each other, wanted each other, that this was real.

Real.

Brad was mine and I was his and there was nothing more that mattered in that moment.

I slipped my hand between us, gripping his hard length in a desperate way. “Brad,” I said, stroking him. “I want you.”

He grinned against my mouth, kissing me and sucking on my bottom lip. “In a hurry tonight, baby?”

I used my free hand to guide his beneath the lace I wore, slicking his fingers through my heat. “What do you think?” I whispered against his mouth.

He shuddered, a groan rippling from his chest as he took control, curling his fingers in a teasing way that made me clench with need.
