My head arched to the side, a silent invitation.

Sway’s hand moved back up my jaw, then down the side of my neck, over my shoulder, down my arm, then over my hip, before going back upward.

This time, though, when his hand met my neck, it slipped backward, grabbing me at the base of my skull.

His eyes held mine for a short moment, waiting for me to tense, to pull away, to show any sign that I wasn’t into this.

I couldn’t muster an objection, though, even if I knew this was a terrible idea.

Then his lips were on mine, soft, unsure at first, still giving me a chance to change my mind.

All it took was for my hand to move out, to rest on his arm.

Then he was deepening the kiss, his lips slanting over mine, tongue teasing, teeth nipping.

I was only half aware of pulling his arm, but then we were both moving. Me, onto my back. Him, coming over me.

Like the last time, my legs spread for him to slip between. Unlike last time, there was nothing playful about his intentions as his lips demanded more, as his hips ground down into me, making his hardness press against the aching need between my thighs.

My legs moved upward, wrapping around him, as my arms wound around the back of his shoulders, forcing more of his weight down on me, feeling his wide chest crush my breasts.

Against my lips, a low groan escaped him as my thighs tightened around him, then my hips writhed up against him, trying to get the friction I needed so badly right then.

Taking charge, he ground his hips down into me, his cock sliding against my cleft. Once, twice, a third time, making a moan escape me, the sound muffled against his lips.

He shifted his weight to one arm, and his hand was at my hip, slipping up under the hem of my shirt, sliding up my stomach, then grazing over the underside of my breasts.

This time, when the shiver escaped me, it was one that wasn’t just on the inside.

A rumbling sound vibrated through Sway then as his hand shifted up, taking the swell of my breast into his hand.

My hips bucked up into him as my back arched up off the mattress, pressing myself harder against his hand.

His fingers had just shifted to my nipple when we both heard it.

A low growl.

Then another.

The dogs heard something.

We both seemed to decide to disregard it, until there was a crashing sound. Not close, not in the apartment. But close enough.

Sway rolled off of me before I could think to push him away.

He was on his feet in seconds, rushing toward the door.

“Stay here,” he demanded, forcing the dogs to stay in the room with me, to protect me.

Yes, I was a careful woman.

I had escape plans on top of escape plans.

But I was also not the ‘sit tight and let the big, strong man handle things’ type of woman.

I rolled off the bed, reaching into my nightstand for my gun, then padding across my room, quietly opening the door Sway had closed.

I gave a command to the girls to come, but be quiet, then made my way out into the hall, hugging the wall because I couldn’t see into the main living space yet.

Back to the wall, I took a deep breath before throwing myself out into the opening.

And stabbed the muzzle of my gun into Sway as he started toward the hallway.

“Jesus Christ,” Sway hissed, jerking back, his hand shooting out to press the gun downward toward the floor.

It was then that I saw the gun in his hand as well.

“What part of ‘stay there’ didn’t you get?” he asked, shaking his head at me.

“The part where you expected me to be the damsel in distress,” I shot back, chin jerking up. “What is it?”

“Some assholes down on the street having an argument,” he told me, shrugging. “Someone got thrown into the trash can on the street.”

I nodded at him, but backed up to go into my office, going in, and checking the monitors, making sure that was all it was.

“It’s fine, honey,” Sway assured me, and I turned to see him leaning in the doorway. Still shirtless, his pajama pants hanging dangerously low on his hips, revealing that stupidly sexy little V that disappeared into the waistband.

The need rippled through me.

But the moment was gone.

I was too awake, too aware of the consequences of fucking a client. A client who was also, for all intents and purposes, my babysitter for the time being.

Things were messy enough.

I didn’t need my libido to make shit even more complicated.

“Seems like it,” I agreed, putting my gun down on my desk. “I’m making coffee,” I said, moving toward him. “Then getting to work,” I added, expecting him to move, but he just stayed there, taking up the doorway.
