“Hi Kaden,” my mom says. “How are you? Are you in Vegas already?”

“Yes, Mother, I made it to Vegas just fine.” I love my mom, but I can get exasperated with her easily. I’m a 35-year old grown man and my mom wants me to keep her updated on the specifics of my daily life. Some things never change. I could be ten years old again.

“You stay out of trouble while you’re there, Kade,” her voice warns through the speaker. “I don’t want you getting into anything unsavory.”

I snort. This is a romance convention, so I doubt there’s going to be anything sketchy going on. Then again, the author I’m here for, Jane Morgan, is absolutely gorgeous with her curvy figure and beautiful face. I’d like to be unsavory with her, that’s for sure. But my mom doesn’t need to know.

“Yes, Mom. I’ll be on my best behavior,” I promise. After the eventful evening I just had, I don’t plan to be completely good, but I won’t be telling Mom that. She can keep imagining that her big, strong, boy is as innocent as innocent can be. How wrong that picture is.

“By the way, Kaden, that friend of yours from high school, Brandon, just got put in jail, you know. I worry about you. Don’t be like Brandon, Kade.” She nags like only a helicopter mom can – always hovering over everything and everyone that has ever been in my life.

“Mom,” I begin. “It’s not like that.”

But my mom isn’t listening.

“I mean it, Kade. Brandon was booked for petty theft. He’s no good. Stay away from him and behave yourself.”

I sigh again. I know there’s no point in arguing about Brandon because Mom tends to believe what she wants about things. When I hang up, I find myself snorting in disbelief. I know what really happened with Brandon, and he’s no thief.

In fact, unbeknownst to my mother, Brandon is my partner in every way – in life, love, and business. He’s waiting for me right now in our hotel room as a matter of fact. Yes, he was picked up by the police last week, but it was determined that his only crime was looking similar to the man that actually robbed the bank. Brandon would never commit such a crime, especially since he has no need to. It was all a misunderstanding that ended up as something much worse in the rumor mill.

But the rumor mill is exactly why Brandon and I have kept our relationship a secret over the years. If someone were to discover the truth about us, we’ll lose everything: our careers, our livelihood, and possibly even each other.

After all, I’m not just a model. And I’m not just a personal trainer either. In truth, I’m a business owner. Muscle Nation started up as a single gym, funded by a generous loan from my dad. I’d been serious about getting fit in high school and it was only a matter of time until I started a gym of my own. I put in the work and created a hugely successful local gym. Then I started another. And another. And another. Soon, California had Muscle Nation gyms everywhere. Then, we went nationwide, and soon we’ll be international. It’s crazy, and I love it. Being an entrepreneur speaks to something in me, and it melds my passion for fitness with my interest in helping others.

But no man builds an empire on his own, and Brandon has been my business partner since early on in the process. Initially, I brought him on as an informal jack-of-all trades, and in the years since, he’s more than proven his worth. He’s my CTO, COO, CIO and CMO all rolled into one.

But now that our gym has become a national chain, we know that if the alpha male clientele knew that the owners were bisexual men, it would crash and burn. In our experience, not many tough-guy types are okay with the LGBT community. It’s a sad truth, but it is true, nonetheless, and you have to understand your customers. As a result, we’ve kept our relationship under wraps even if the secret’s growing more and more burdensome by the day.

But we’re not just about each other: as bisexual men, we think that a beautiful and curvy woman is the missing piece to our puzzle. We’d like someone curvy and generous, who doesn’t necessarily look like the models who work out at our gyms. Plush and generous is the way to go, which leads me to our reason for attending the romance convention.

After all, a romance convention is the perfect place to meet a plump and gorgeous woman that enjoys some dirty action. It melds the best of both worlds: girls who love the steam and excitement of romance, with zaftig figures that make my mouth water. Plus, more than a few romance readers enjoy MMF bisexual romance, which is good. It’s a perfect opportunity for us to begin hunting, and both Brandon and I are looking forward to finding the right woman. After all, this modeling gig is just a cover. We don’t need the money, nor do I care about being on the cover of books. Really, we’re just looking for a sweet girl for a deep, satisfying relationship.
