“Hey,” Styx snapped. His gaze was fiery hot as it fastened on me. “None of that. You’re a beautiful, passionate, hot-blooded woman. Mine. I happen to love that side of you as much as I love everything else about you. Don’t doubt yourself.” He reached out and took my hand, squeezing it. “I wouldn’t want you to be any other way, Jolene. I hope you’re always as eager for sexual adventure as you are now.” He slid me a cocky grin. “If you are, we’ll have one hell of a time together.”

I smiled, a relieved laugh bubbling to the surface. “It is an adventure. Isn’t it?”

“The greatest.” He pulled my hand to his mouth and kissed my fingers.

Chapter Eight

Styx

We rolled into the Bane clubhouse just before dark. Jolene had made the trip the most eventful, exciting trip from Kentucky to Florida I’d ever experienced. In addition to the first time we’d fucked while barreling down the highway, she’d had her way with me twice more, and had sucked me off another two. I was completely, thoroughly, wonderfully spent. So was she. She’d brought herself to climax more than once. And she’d come several times when she’d fucked me. Just thinking back to that trip had me smiling. My Jolene was a rare treasure.

Once inside the compound, Thorn, Havoc, and Red met me as I was climbing out of the truck. “Did you get it?” Red crossed his arms over his massive chest. “’Cause, if you didn’t, you can just drive that son of a bitch back to West Virginia and get my fuckin’ car.”

“Red, stop being such a grouch.” The short, willowy redhead who’d let Red claim her hurried to catch up with the other three men. Rosanna was one of the best mechanics I knew, and she’d been itching to get her hands on that car. “There’s more important things than that Maybach. Styx brought home a woman.” Her comment made me grateful I considered her a friend.

“You’re can be a fuckin’ son of a bitch sometimes, Red,” I muttered. “I have no idea why Rosanna puts up with your sorry ass. Got shit to discuss with Thorn ’bout Jolene and her kin.”

Red jerked back like I’d struck him. “What the fuck’s with the accent? You sound like you stepped out of a Hatfield and McCoy movie. That girl gettin’ to you already?”

I grinned. “Well, we are Hatfields and McCoys.” With a shrug I waved him off, the bastard. “I fought hard to rid myself of that accent when I left for the Army. But I loved Jolene’s accent so much, I guess I fell back into the habit.”

“Where is she?” Rosanna looked around, obviously wanting to meet my Jolene.

“She’s asleep in the truck,” I said, not even trying to suppress the grin.

“Oh? Did you have an eventful ride?” Rosanna looked worriedly from me to Red.

“Definitely had an eventful ride.”

“Well, it’s gettin’ ready to be more eventful.” Ripper, the intel guy for Salvation’s Bane walked into the yard, a hard look on his face. “You’ve lost your fuckin’ mind, Styx.” Ripper sounded as angry as hell as he approached us.

“Me?” I probably looked as confused as I sounded.

“Yeah, you bastard. There’s a contingent of fucking hillbillies headed this way. What’d you intend to happen when they got here?”

“Hillbillies,” I snapped. “What the fuck do you mean?”

“I mean, your fuckin’ half brothers and his cousins are on their way here. For your woman.”

“Is Shotgun comin’?”

“Oh, yeah. He was the first one I called after Thorn. Got here a couple hours ago. I think him and his ol’ lady are in the clubhouse, partyin’ with the rest of the club.” Ripper scowled in the direction he’d indicated. “Man don’t take nothin’ seriously.”

“He does. He just likes to play.” I grinned, thinking of my half brother. Shotgun had left West Virginia when he was just a boy. He didn’t remember much about life in Williamson.

“Well, this ain’t the time. Better get your girl tucked away. Crazy bastards stopped just outside of town. Figure they’ll be here either tonight or tomorrow. Dependin’ on how fuckin’ stupid they are.”

“They’re pretty fuckin’ stupid, Ripper. How’d they find us? Are they after Jolene or the Maybach?”

“Oh, they’re after the girl. What’d you expect to happen when you tagged them on fuckin’ social media with a big ole fuck you to ‘all your kin in West Virginia’?” Ripper made air quotes as he berated me. “I mean, you posted a picture of the two of you obviously havin’ sex, for fuck’s sake!”

OK, that got my attention. “I never took no picture like that, Ripper. If Jolene finds out, she’ll lose her shit.”

“Yeah,” Rosanne said, slipping her hand into Red’s and looking up at him. “We heard about what your other brother did. She’s gonna take that hard.”

“Take what hard?” I turned around when Jolene spoke. She was out of the truck looking adorably sleepy as she rubbed one eye. Had the situation been different, I’d have smiled at her. Instead, I knew I needed to be careful. “Hey, baby,” I reached for her, pulling her into my arms. “We’re here.”
