“Are you okay?” Spencer asked.

“You are not old enough to be my father!”

“Sure I am.” Spencer had no idea why he was insistently going down this path. It certainly couldn’t lead anywhere good. He internally screamed at himself to stop but it was no use. “People have kids when they’re sixteen all the time.”

Something passed over Emilio’s expression and he went from outraged to sad and then wicked. Before Spencer could process what was happening, he found himself being moved backward until he was pinned to the wall.

“Emilio?”

Emilio planted his hands on either side of Spencer’s head and leaned close. “Do I look like a kid to you?”

His husky voice made Spencer tremble. Though he was younger, Emilio was taller, bigger, stronger, and rougher. Add to those physical attributes his confidence to the point of swagger, his patience, and his sensitivity, and there was no way to see Emilio as anything other than all man.

“No.” Spencer gulped.

“That’s good, cariño.” Emilio rocked forward and pressed his groin against Spencer, circling his hips so his hard shaft rubbed against Spencer’s overheated body. “’Cause the things I wanna do to you are real grown-up.”

Spencer whimpered and looked up at Emilio’s handsome face in awe.

“You see that?” Emilio said, raising his hand to brush it through Spencer’s hair. “You’re cute as hell.”

“Okay,” Spencer said, his voice sounding weak and shaky. That little exchange had him achingly hard, and he then wanted to avoid the dinner out for a whole different reason—staying in meant getting naked with Emilio. He reached up and massaged his palms over Emilio’s muscular chest.

“Oh, no,” Emilio said with a chuckle. “You ain’t gonna distract me. Well, at least not yet. We’re meeting Alicia and Jim for dinner.” He bent down and whispered into Spencer’s ear, “After that you can distract me all you want.” He nipped Spencer’s earlobe, then backed off, winked, and said, “Let’s go.”

When Emilio had him all wound up, Spencer’s focus tended to be on him, all the things they’d done together, and all the things he wanted to do. With all those thoughts overtaking his system, there wasn’t room to fixate on anything else. So when Emilio said they were going, Spencer nodded, took his outstretched hand, and easily followed him to the car.

“Here you go,” Emilio said, holding the passenger side door open.

“Thanks.” Spencer climbed into the seat and blinked up at him.

Of all the things he found beautiful about Emilio, his warm smile was at the top of the list. And right then, he received one of those smiles, complete with twinkling eyes, as Emilio bent down and kissed his cheek.

“Don’t worry,” he said. “You’re gonna love Alicia and Jim.”

That hadn’t been Spencer’s worry. He had actually been fretting about the inverse of that particular equation. But before he could ramp himself back into another internal frenzy, Emilio opened the driver’s side door, climbed into the car, and blanketed Spencer’s knee with his big hand, rubbing. Spencer covered Emilio’s hand with his own and lolled his head to the side so he could watch Emilio.

Faster than he had anticipated, the car was rolling to a stop. “We’re here,” Emilio said as he pulled up to the curb. He jumped out and hustled over to Spencer’s side of the car, opened his door, and reached his hand out.

Spencer blushed but took his hand without protest. “You’re like an old-fashioned gentleman. I’m not sure what that makes me. Am I the damsel in distress?”

With a sharp tug, Spencer was once again yanked against Emilio’s chest. “I’m not sure an old-fashioned gentleman wants to eat his boyfriend’s ass for dinner. And you, cariño”—Emilio reached between them and squeezed Spencer’s basket—“ain’t no damsel. Plus, you’ve got your shit together. Being a little nervous about meeting my family is no biggie. Henry’s girl is still real quiet when he brings her around.”

“You have an amazing skill for calming me down, you know that?”

“Good. That means you’ll have to keep me around.”

Spencer wanted that, longed for it. He had convinced himself he was fine being single, which was partially true. He loved his work. Between his friends, the stack of books he kept replenishing, and the work he liked to do on his garden, his free time had always been filled. But having Emilio around made him realize that while he hadn’t been bored, he had been lonely for a long time, probably long before Peter broke up with him and maybe even before he had moved to Vegas.

But it was different since Emilio waltzed into his life. Emilio’s energy, his warmth, his strength, made Spencer’s entire body feel alive, aware. Even when they weren’t together, Spencer found himself remembering something Emilio had said or done. There was no way to feel lonely with Emilio’s presence everywhere, cushioning Spencer’s mind and heart.
