“You’re kidding, right?” Emilio snorted. Spencer dropped his chin to his chest and his shoulders drooped. Damn it. “Hey, now,” Emilio said. “That came out wrong. I’m sorry, it’s just….” He put two fingers under Spencer’s chin and raised it until their eyes met. “You have got to realize by now that I want you. A lot. You do it for me, Spencer. Have since the first time I saw you. So you better believe I’m getting something out of this. Touching you, tasting you, hearing you….” He shuddered at those thoughts. “I’m gonna feel as good as you. Believe me.”

“Yeah?”

He took Spencer’s hand and placed over his swollen shaft. “Oh, yeah,” he promised.

“And….” Spencer swallowed hard. “You’ll tell me if I don’t…. If it’s not right, you’ll tell me? Because I can fix it if I know it’s not good. I can….” He looked into Emilio’s eyes and pleaded, “Please tell me if I’m not…. Because I want to make you feel good too, Emilio. I want that so much.”

Somebody had fucked with Spencer’s mind as well as his body, Emilio realized. He clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles cracked.

“Being with you feels good,” he said, trying to reassure Spencer.

“But you’ll tell me, right?” Spencer clutched Emilio’s forearms. “If it isn’t good, you’ll tell me?”

Though he knew it wouldn’t be an issue given his powerful reaction to Spencer, Emilio realized the only way to address this particular worry was to give Spencer the oath he wanted, so he said, “Yes, I’ll tell you. I promise.”

“Okay,” Spencer said, sounding relieved.

“Okay.” Emilio smiled. “Are we done talking now? ’Cause I’m ready to do dirty things to you.”

“Dirty?” Spencer asked, already sounding breathless.

“Uh-huh,” Emilio answered as he pulled Spencer toward the bedroom. “Maybe even illegal.”

Spencer whimpered and hurried his pace. As soon as they entered the bedroom, Emilio pushed his shorts down over his hips and let them drop to the ground, leaving him stark naked. Spencer went limp, arms hanging by his sides, mouth open, eyes wide.

Emilio chuckled and raised Spencer’s chin with one finger, closing his mouth. “Like what you see?” he asked as he wrapped his long fingers around his thick shaft and stroked slowly.

“God.” Spencer licked his lips and gulped. He flicked his gaze up to Emilio’s. “You’re beautiful.”

“I’m glad you think so,” Emilio said, running his free hand over his belly and chest while he continued to pump his cock.

“No, really.” Spencer dragged his eyes from Emilio’s face to his feet and back up again. “I’ve never seen anybody who looks like you.”

“I like looking at you too,” Emilio said. He reached for the bottom of Spencer’s shirt. “Let’s take this off, okay? I wanna see you naked.”

Though he seemed nervous, Spencer complied, raising his arms above his head when Emilio pulled his shirt up and shoving his briefs and jeans to the ground as soon as Emilio unbuttoned them. Emilio rested his palm over Spencer’s heart and felt the rapid beat.

“I won’t hurt you,” he promised.

Spencer took in a deep breath and said, “I know.” He shook his head ruefully. “Which is crazy because we just met, but I know you won’t hurt me.”

“That’s good, cariño,” he said.

He led them over to the bed and lay back, pulling Spencer down on top of him and groaning when their exposed skin met. Spencer gazed at him, his eyes filled with so much hope it made Emilio want to give him whatever he had been missing. The more he got to know Spencer, the more he realized there was so much left to learn about him. One thing he knew with certainty was that Spencer had been hurt more than once in his life by people he had trusted. Letting down a man with that kind of past could cause a lot of damage.

When he was standing in Spencer’s kitchen washing dishes, Emilio had taken stock of himself and considered whether this was a man he should pursue. Barreling ahead only to walk away if things got hard would be unfair and cruel, especially to someone with Spencer’s past. But just the sound of Spencer’s voice trying to sound upbeat when discussing his family had put a vise on Emilio’s heart, making him itch to touch and soothe the other man, so he knew he couldn’t walk away. He wanted Spencer in a way he had never wanted another, and there was no way he could give that up.

After less than a day, Spencer was sharing information about his family and welcoming Emilio’s touch. Emilio figured that meant he was doing something right and that, maybe, building a relationship with Spencer wouldn’t be as hard as he had initially feared. Thankfully, whatever challenges lay ahead, convincing Spencer to want him wasn’t one of them. He just had to work on gaining Spencer’s trust, his complete trust, and then maybe he’d be invited to stay in Spencer’s life long after he finished the remodel.
