By the time the sun had gone down, my house was a rager again. Football friends and college friends rolled in, and I took my hosting duties seriously, making sure everyone was having a good time.

I had just taken a dip with some girls in my hot tub and was toweling off when I felt a hand on the back of my shoulder.

“Kacey baby,” a voice purred, and I turned to see Mark, a guy I’d been intermittently hooking up with for a few months.

“Mark,” I said, giving him a pat on his shoulder. “You been hittin’ the sauce?”

“I’ve been hitting double sauce,” he said. “I’ve always liked how weed and vodka martinis mix.”

Mark’s eyelids were heavy from the alcohol, and his ice-blond hair was shaggy.

“I’m glad you’re having a good time,” I said, giving him a polite smile. “I need to go check the bar and restock, actually.”

“I’ll come with you,” Mark said eagerly, following me to the indoor bar at the side of my kitchen. The TV crew had been weaving around my backyard and the party all night, and they turned to focus on me and Mark as we walked inside.

Mark lingered as I replenished some of the bottles, watching me like I was an animal in a zoo. “Saw your livestream earlier today,” he told me. “Got off to it.”

I nodded. “Glad I could be of service.”

Mark leaned in closer to me, smelling like a mixture of sweat, weed, and vodka. “Then come service me in the spare room really quick.”

I turned and glanced at the camera crew. For once, I felt myself bristling a little bit at having the cameras on me. They certainly couldn’t have picked up what Mark had just whispered, but I still prickled at them filming Mark looking like he was about to drape his body over mine.

There may have been a time a couple of months ago when his proposition would have interested me, but for whatever reason, everything about Mark was giving me the ick right now.

“I’m good for tonight,” I told him, trying to let him down easy. “Here. Take a water bottle. There’s no dehydration in this house.”

“Only thing I want to drink right now is your cum,” Mark said, reaching for my arm and stumbling a little as he tried to grab my wrist. “I know that’s why you did that Insta live today. Trying to reel me in again? Well, here I am—”

“Jesus, Mark,” I said, leaning over to help him steady himself. “Sorry. I’m not interested tonight. But you need to drink a little water.”

“Shit, is he okay?” Another blond guy appeared beside us, reaching for Mark. “I’m his brother Zack. Sorry about this. He pre-gamed a little too hard.”

“I did not,” Mark hissed at his brother, glaring at him. “I just want Kace’s dick and he apparently is too good to give it to me now—”

“Christ,” Zack muttered. “I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t worry about it at all,” I told Zack. “I’m glad he’s here with someone. Was nice to meet you, Zack.”

Five minutes later, I’d helped Zack get Mark into the passenger seat of his car, and Zack drove him home. I asked if the TV crew would head back into the backyard again, mostly to preserve Mark’s dignity when he was probably blackout drunk. I sure as hell didn’t mind if I made a fool of myself on camera, but when my friends were going to regret something, I sometimes stepped in to turn the cameras away.

I let out a long breath, glancing at my phone. I had three texts from other guys that had built up over the course of the night. All of them were flirting or asking if I wanted to hook up tonight, and all three mentioned the livestream I’d done earlier.

None of them cared to ask how I was doing. How I’d been. None of them really cared about me at all, beyond my hot body.

Usually that wouldn’t have bothered me. But tonight it was like my dick was on strike or something. I couldn’t give a fuck less about everyone’s hollow compliments, and even my hottest hookups weren’t piquing my interest.

I spent the next couple of hours mingling, dancing, and catching up with new and old friends. I wound down the party much earlier than usual, sending people home around midnight. And when I’d finally showered off, changed into comfortable clothes, and gotten in my fresh, new bedsheets in my recently spotlessly cleaned room, I was in heaven.

When I looked at my phone again, my heart did a little flip in my chest.

I had a text from Nathan.

And for whatever weird reason, seeing his name on my phone had been more exciting than any of the sex propositions I’d gotten all night.

Nathan had texted me about forty-five minutes ago. I opened it up and gasped at what I saw.
