Hale immediately threw up both arms in resignation. “I didn’t know!” He dropped his arms again and patted Harrison’s forearm that was still wrapped around him. “I just knew I was angry and sad. I’m not now.”

“And it’s nice and calm out.” Lucien looked up at the stars. “It’s a beautiful, clear night, probably the last of our peace.” He sat between Calder and Gio, both men leaning against him. He sighed and stretched his legs out. “Maybe you’ll have telekinesis. That could come in handy during a fight.”

“Or you can fly, too.” Hale turned his head. “It would be cool if we could do it together.”

“There’s no way to know until it manifests, and if it was something like mind reading, you’d probably already know.” Lucien grinned at Grey.

“Trust me, you don’t want that one,” Grey said. “There is so much you never want to know about your friends and family.”

Harrison rolled his eyes. “Like you have room to talk. Our tent was next to yours the last time we camped.”

Grey laughed, then pulled his husband in close.

Lucien cleared his throat. “We need to figure out what we’re going to do next.”

The shift in mood was immediate. A heavy weight fell over their camp at Lucien’s words. Harrison didn’t need to be a mind reader to know that everyone was now thinking about the dark future that lay ahead of them—saving the world and losing their soul mates.

Clay nodded. “Either we go directly to the rift and cast the spell, or we could do a little more digging. Sedona is renowned for mysticism and new-age healing. Maybe there could be some kind of clue to help us come up with another way to close the rift.”

“There is no other way,” Harrison insisted again. “Wiley and I have been through everything.”

“But he’s right,” Wiley interjected. “Sedona is famous for those reasons, and we could find something. It’s worth a try.”

“But what if we run into more pestilents in town?” Harrison asked. “We haven’t had much luck there before.”

“It’s a much bigger town, and hopefully we’re ahead of the game now.” Wiley scratched his nose. “We can be extra vigilant.”

“Then we’ll go into Sedona tomorrow.” Clay stood and held out his hand to Dane. “I suggest we all turn in and try to get some sleep. With us so close to the rift, I’m really feeling the pull on the Earth.”

“Yeah, you’re looking at Dane like you plan to sleep.” Baer chuckled. “But I get it. This could be our last night, so it’s time to make the best of it.”

“Don’t say that,” Wiley complained. “Please don’t even think it.”

No one said anything else as they put the fire out, and each couple and the one throuple all made their way into their tents. Harrison just wanted to be alone with Hale, because he couldn’t help but worry that it was their last night together. The last calm before the storm.

He took Hale’s hand and pulled him into their tent, then wrapped his arms tightly around him in the darkness. “I can’t believe we’re soul mates,” he whispered into his hair. “It feels like a dream.”

“I knew you had to be mine,” Hale said as he ran his hands down Harrison’s back. “We should have figured it out, but you never took that Heart off. We could have saved a lot of heartache if you had.”

“I only remove it to shower. But maybe it all happened the way it was supposed to. Maybe we did have to work for it a bit.”

“Just glad we discovered the truth before we went any further.” Hale’s hands went to his jacket and he slipped it off Harrison’s shoulders. “I know it’s kind of cold, but I’ll warm you up in the sleeping bags. Time for the clothes to go. I’d like to take a real honeymoon with you sometime, but for now, sex. Lots and lots of sex. And I know just what I want to do first.”

“I want to feel you against me.” Harrison quickly unbuttoned his shirt and shivered as the cold air hit his skin. “But inside the sleeping bags.”

They hurriedly undressed and climbed into the bags they’d zipped together earlier. Hale’s naked skin brushed his and Harrison held his breath as desire swamped him. He pulled the man close, marveling over how his hard body felt so good. He’d always enjoyed women’s softer bodies in the past, yet this was just as good. In fact, it was better because of their bond. That changed everything.

Hairy legs slid between his as Hale hooked an ankle around his leg. Harrison ran his hands over all that soft skin, feeling the muscles and bone as he buried his face in Hale’s neck and breathed in his masculine scent.

Hale kissed his jaw, then his mouth, slanting his lips over Harrison’s. Their tongues slid together. The kiss was languid…erotic. Pure, raw pleasure washed through Harrison, and he clutched Hale closer, wanting to climb inside the man. Hale pulled away and kissed down his neck, sucking on the sensitive place where his neck met his collarbone. He kept going and Harrison held his breath as his nipples were licked and sucked. He knew where Hale was headed, anticipation making him quiver. They hadn’t yet done this, and the thought of his cock in Hale’s mouth filled him with an excitement he’d never experienced before. Hale pressed him onto his back and stroked his dick.
