The tip of Hale’s tongue slipped across Harrison’s lower lip and he was pulled under at last. A ragged groan was dragged from his throat, and his eyes fell shut as his lips parted, giving Hale access to his mouth. Hands tightened on his face, pulling him in tight. Harrison’s free hand came up to clutch Hale’s arm, squeezing the hard biceps under his palm.

He didn’t know if it was the adrenaline from the fight and run or what, but it felt like all his blood rushed south as his dick grew hard and his heart threatened to beat straight through his chest.

He pressed Hale against the door into the storeroom, thrusting his tongue into his mouth over and over, unable to get enough of the taste of him. He’d been sucking on peppermint candy earlier and that taste lingered. It was so fucking sexy when mixed with the taste of Hale himself, Harrison dropped the precious papers and wrapped his arms around Hale’s back. They weren’t close enough. He needed to feel every inch of him pressed to his body, to feel the desperate pant of his lungs and the race of his heart.

Hands gripped his hips and pulled his groin into Hale’s. Moaning at the spike of pleasure, Harrison ground himself on that hard dick. His pulse quickened further to know he’d caused that reaction in Hale. Fiery need burned through him and he wanted Hale just as desperately.

He reached up and finally threaded his fingers through Hale’s silky blond hair. The texture and weight were as exquisite as he’d expected it to be. He was like drinking down liquid sunshine, warming every part of his soul.

The kiss deepened as Harrison grappled with the desire racing through him. Hale clutched him close and those hard muscles against him felt good. Too good. Hale’s fingers dug into his hips, his cock rigid. He moaned and Harrison swallowed the sound as his tongue twined with Hale’s.

Dizziness swamped him and he pressed harder into Hale, but a shout on the street snapped them both out of the moment.

Harrison wrenched away, stumbling back a couple of steps. His breath exploded in short, ragged gasps. He stared at Hale, who looked at him, equally stunned.

“Wow,” Hale exhaled. He shoved one hand through the soft, messy hair that Harrison could feel on his palm.

Wow was a fucking understatement. Nothing in Harrison’s experience had ever felt like that. “That…that…it must be from the fight.”

A slow grin kicked up the corners of Hale’s mouth, and a wicked twinkle entered his sky-blue eyes. “You think?” he asked, his voice full of mocking skepticism as he adjusted himself in his jeans. “I think we should try that again. Just to test your hypothesis.”

Harrison retreated another step and held up one hand. “No.”

So maybe his body was screaming “Yes, please!” but his brain was most definitely demanding to know what the fuck was going on. He didn’t fuck men.

But he wanted to fuck Hale. Wanted it so badly, his cock ached. He could easily imagine turning Hale around and bending him over a shelf. The image of that taut, round ass flashed through his mind and he mentally jerked himself into reality.

“We need to check on the others. See if we can help them in some way.” He hated that his voice was a bit shaky, but it was better to focus on the mountains of problems that were still right in front of them rather than going to search out a new one that started with Hale’s mouth and ended with them sweaty and cum covered.

The evil grin was replaced by an expression of even deeper skepticism and disbelief. “Really? We’re going to ignore the fact that I can still feel the imprint of your dick against mine?” Hale lifted a blond eyebrow.

“Yes, we are. One, and the most important issue, the pestilents are here, trying to kill all of us,” Harrison listed, holding up one finger. “Two, you’re looking for your soul mate. If I were that, Grey would have already told us. And three, I’m straight. That…that was just a fluke. A one-time thing. We’re going to pretend this didn’t happen.”

Hale laughed a deep, loud, belly laugh that had him leaning heavily on the door for support. When he straightened and met Harrison’s eyes, his own were glistening with unshed tears. “Cutie pie, if I wasn’t sure I was going to die in a few days, I’d be happy to slowly ease you through this, but we’ve gotta go for the sledgehammer approach.”

“What?” Harrison gasped, his entire body tensing as if preparing for Hale to physically attack him. What came out of his mouth hit right in Harrison’s sense of who he was.

“You ain’t straight. You’re at least bi or demi, or maybe you’re gay. But what you ain’t is plain vanilla straight. The hard-on and dry humping me until we both almost came in our pants screams that. If we’re counting down our final days, I suggest you wrap your head around it fast so we can both have a little fun before we go out in a blaze of glory.”
