My trip home on the train takes forever, but it’s the first time I’m bothered by it. Usually, I allow my mind to find a happy place by reading. Today, that’s not working. My mind replays my interaction with the boss.

I’ve seen handsome men before, but the feelings I got from being in his presence are intense. Stone Harding’s presence is so addicting that I can’t come down from this powerful high even an hour later.

The second I’m in my apartment, I hit my closet for the cutest outfit I have. A dark gray pencil skirt, with a pink button up dress shirt. Since I intern, I don’t have a job, but my parent’s death left me with a substantial settlement which I use when needed.

When I learned that I’d been selected for the internship, I bought a bunch of clothes, and this was my next week’s outfit, but I want him to see me as beautiful and sophisticated. It’s nuts because he’s my boss, and it’s not ethical in any way. Even with that knowledge, I’d let him devour me on his desk.

When he rolled up his sleeves, I thought about the way his arms would feel wrapped around me as he thrust into me. I’m a freaking virgin for Christ’s sake. My mind is acting like I’ve been fucking guys for years. At twenty-one, I shouldn’t be a virgin. If it wasn’t for the call about my parents, I would have given it up to my high school boyfriend after prom.

I sit on my bed and think about that moment I got the call. My world collapsed around me and all the bastard could say was that he wasted all this money on a hotel room on a prude. He’s wasting more and more money now that he’s got three baby mamas taking him to court. One he got pregnant on prom night after I left in a taxi because he refused to take me home.

Shaking off the bad memories, I replace them with a much pleasanter memory of Stone’s hand in mine as he helped me to my feet. The firmness of his grip conflicted with the tenderness of his touch. The way my body heated up; it was as if he branded me.

“This is stupid. He’s my boss and was just being nice to me. I can’t believe how unprofessional I’m being. I should call in.” I jump off my bed and change into a pair of jeans, a V-neck fitted sweater.

I’m starving, so I’m going to get a bite to eat. Hoping to get some fresh air, I walk down the street to a local sit-down Mexican restaurant. It’s one of my favorites, and just as I’m reaching the door, a handsome man around my age smiles and holds the door open.

“Thank you,” I whisper and walk past him. As cute as he is, nothing could break my thoughts away from Stone.

“If you’re alone. You should join us.”

“Thanks, but no thank you,” I reply.

“Well if you change your mind.” He winks and immediately joins a table of people. The hostess leads me to a table nearer to the door that’s just for two. “Your server will be with you soon.”

When I take a seat, someone else walks in, and I can’t believe who it is. Stone Harding and he’s all alone. He’s in a pair of blue jeans and a dark blue polo shirt with his strong arms on display. His hair is a mess like he’s been running his fingers through it. Oh shit, maybe a woman was doing that for him. Instantly I’ve lost my appetite.

Our eyes connect, and I’m trying not to squirm in my chair. “Ms. Sweet, it’s a pleasant surprise seeing you here.” The smile on his face turns me into a puddle of goo.

“The same. Would you like to sit down?” I don’t even know how I get the words out without tripping over them, but it’s a success.

“You’re not meeting some boyfriend, right now?” Wow that’s out of left field. He scans the room, eyeing the guy who held the door for me. I can see the cold stare he gives the guy.

“No, I’m just ravenous, and I’m not a great cook.” I shrug with my palms open as if it’s not a big deal, but his question is very invasive.

The waitress comes up and asks him what he would like to eat. Stone asks for some steak fajitas and a Corona. When she leaves, he continues where we left off and says, “You can’t be good at everything.”

He’s perfect, so I have to giggle. “Easy to say coming from you. You’re a self-made billionaire who owns one of the most reputable marketing companies in the world.”

“You’ve been reading up on me,” he chuckles. The authentic way he laughs gets the attention of a group of women sitting behind him. They smirk and nod their heads while some toss me a wink.
