The mayor looks at me and holds his hand out, giving me the floor. “Young man.”

If I had more time I would take a second to relish in the redness covering bitchboy’s face. His apparent indignation at me having connections he didn’t know I had is evident and satisfying. “Thank you sir. I brought you here because I am issuing a final warning to your son and I want witnesses.”

“Warning about what? Who the hell are you to be issuing anything to anyone?” His dad lifts up in his seat and his voice raises an octave.

“I am going to have to respectfully ask that you not raise your voice to my son.” My father’s tone booms through the room like Zeus. Hell, I think the windows rattled. Mr. Ross visibly shakes a moment and then recovers.

“Again, I ask who you are, and what is this about?”

“Your son, Evan, and I are classmates and we have had more than a few… run-ins if you will.” Recognition shows on his face and turns to Evan.

“Is this is hooligan you have been referring to that has been pursuing your fiancé?” The word hooligan should have me pissed, but it's the reference to my girl being his anything that is about to get him obliterated in this damn room, witnesses be damned.

“The very same.” Evan says smugly. I want to wipe that fucking grin off his face with the bottom of my shoe. My father’s hand comes to arm, essentially keeping me in my seat and telling me to stay cool. For now.

“First of all bitchboy, my angel is not your anything, which is never clearer than when she runs to me every chance she gets. How fucking pathetic are you chasing after a girl that doesn’t want you?” I am purposely goading him. I want him to give me a reason to pull my trump card. “Furthermore, I am curious if your Uncle knows you used his car to engage in stalking?” His face blanches and his mouth seals. Check.

“Evan, what is he talking about?” his father asks.

“Seems your son used your brother's car to follow my son over the last few days. As you know, unless you have a P.I. license, this is illegal. Isn’t that right, Mayor?”

“Very right Mr. Luna.” His chest puffs out at being given a chance to flaunt his power. Evan’s mouth opens but his dad stops him.

“He cannot help you were in the same place at the same time. And as far as Miss Abell, I can only assume you don’t know how it works in these parts, but there is an agreement between her father and me. She has been promised to my son. So it is you who are out of line.”

“Trust me when I tell you that it has been signed, sealed and delivered by my tongue and dick.” Everyone in the room gasps, except my father. “Now, I am going to tell you one more time, stay away from her. She is not yours and will never be yours.” I know the minute I hit the jackpot. They both stand and his dad begins sputtering.

“We will see about that. Especially once I talk to her father.” And checkmate.

Standing, I feel my father stand behind me. The poor Mayor looks scared, stuck between two families, still sort of in the dark about what has been going on.

“You might want to rethink that threat.” I hand him the envelope from my satchel. “Oh and I would look at it in private.” I advise him. I am sure he is curious why I am so calm and not fazed by his threat. He takes the envelope from my hands and walks away from Evan who is still standing in a confident posture. If only he knew.

His father’s face turns ghost white when he opens the envelope. I watch his shoulder sink lower and lower as each photo passes his fingers. His hands visibly shaking, puts everything back in the envelope and his hands touch his face before he turns back to me. His disgust for what I have done is blatant and unhidden, but he also knows he has lost. “Father.” Evan says clearly waiting on his father to assure him nothing has changed.

Clearing his throat he turns to his son. “She has made her choice, my boy. If she wants a life unblessed with this… this..”

“Easy.” My father warns him. Mr. Ross jumps a bit and steps back.

“This unsaved soul, then you must walk away. We will find you a woman who is worthy of you.” His words send warning shots through me and my feet begin moving toward him. How dare he say she is unworthy of his piece of shit son? She is worth more than everyone in this damn room. Even me. My father’s hand on my shoulder, holds me back. I need to get out of here.
