Joy burst through me. I knew I had her. Pulling her into my arms, I hugged her tightly to me. “Honey, I’ll be thrilled with any child you have. If we can’t have kids, I’ll be thrilled to have you all to myself once Jerrica grows up. Or we can adopt the girls in there with Jerrica. If not us, I know of several men who’d make great protectors for them. Starting with Brick.”
“Right. I can see him playing Daddy to one of those girls. They’d mop the floor with him.”
“See? You know more about us than you think if you’ve already got Brick pegged.”
We grinned at each other for long moments. I smoothed back a strand of hair from her face. “So, what do you say?”
“You’re not giving me long to decide, are you?”
I shrugged. “I give you too much time, you’ll talk yourself out of it. Don’t try to be logical about this. Trust your instinct. What does your gut tell you?”
She slid her arms around my neck, pulling herself up to brush her lips against mine once. “That I need more of your kisses. Desperately.”
I took the opening she gave me. My arms tightened around her as I covered her lips with mine. Holding her close was imperative. The longer I kissed her, the more holding her close became a visceral need. I wanted us skin to skin, but that would have to wait. She had to be ready before I started ripping her clothes off.
Like before, the second my lips touched hers, magic happened. My body shot tight. My heart raced. My whole being was consumed with her. Iris. My woman. She opened her mouth to me, surrendering so sweetly my heart swelled. Then she dabbed her tongue against mine tentatively. As if testing the waters. Deciding if she liked the taste and feel of me.
She sighed and let me deepen the kiss. Her hands clutched my chest, and she held me as tightly as I held her. Fuck me, it felt good! I’d held her before, but never like this. Iris was mine. She was accepting me as hers.
When she moaned into my mouth, I swallowed her cries, wanting to keep them all. Every little thing about her, I wanted. Her courage. Her loyalty. Her love. I thought Iris had a capacity to love greater than any other woman I’d ever met. I knew my brothers saw it too. She’d make a wonderful ol’ lady. More importantly, once I’d won her heart, she’d fulfill something in my life I never knew I was missing. Until I met her.
I lifted Iris into my arms, urging her to wrap her legs around my waist while I carried her to the bed. With one arm securely around her back, I lay down on the mattress with her, my body solidly over hers as I settled us. When I pulled back slightly to look down at her, her eyes were glazed, and she had a beautiful smile on her face. It struck me then how little I’d seen her smile since we met. I had a feeling that, when I finally coaxed a full, joyous smile onto her face, I’d be gobsmacked by her beauty.
“I know I don’t deserve you, Iris. But I swear to you, I’ll make you happy. I’ll do everything in my power to see you have the best life of anyone ever born from this point forward.” I stroked the line of her cheek with the pads of my fingers. “Give me the chance to prove to you I can.”
She took a breath. I could see the exact moment she decided to throw all in. Her face relaxed, and that soft, breathtaking smile took over her face. It was as lovely a sight as I’d ever seen.
“I’ll follow where you lead, Aidan. But I’m telling you now, I want my sister with me. I promised her I’d adopt her, and I intend to keep that promise.”
“Never thought about not including her in this. She’ll have the benefit and protection of two parents, though. You’ll marry me legally. We’ll both adopt her. The others want to come with us. If you don’t want to take them in, Iron Tzars will place them within the club. No matter who they end up with, they’ll always be protected and spoiled. They deserve it after everything they’ve been through.”
“No. I can take them.”
“We can take them, Iris. Start thinking of us as a team.”
She nodded, smiling up at me again. “I can do that.”
“Good. I’ll send word ahead. The club will have a suitable place for all six of us ready when we get there. It will be a challenge in a short period of time, but we’ll start work on a bigger place the second we get back.”
“I’m not going to ask how these clubs seem to have all the money and resources in the world. I always thought motorcycle clubs met in dirty garages with grease rags all over the place and women hanging off them like fashion accessories.”
