Now I get to go back home and face my brother’s wrath, because when he hears about how some low-level drug dealer escaped, and I summarily executed his two pals, he’s going to be real fucking pissed.

But now I have a way forward.

Once he’s inside, I sit behind the wheel of the Lexus, take a few deep breaths. Lying to my family is terrible. Killing those two Irish guys was no big deal, but misleading my brothers is the worst sin I could commit. But as I sit there and stew, hating myself a little bit, something occurs to me. A plan begins to form. It’s a way to tell the truth, or at least part of the truth. I call Carlo, and it goes to voicemail.

“I just had a discussion with our prisoners. Turns out, one of them decided to start talking once I killed his friends. The guy agreed to give me Finnian’s location in exchange for a bus ticket. Guess who knows where our Irish friend goes to fuck his girlfriend? Talk to you soon.”

Chapter 22

Saul

Molly’s already working an early shift when I get home. I shoot her a quick text, letting her know that I’m safe, and include a nice shirtless pic before getting into the shower.

When I get out, there’s a message waiting. I expected some joking reply, but instead, it’s a photo in return. Molly’s in the bathroom at work, camera held out, her waitress uniform unbuttoned to show her tits pressed together and barely restrained by a black bra. My cock’s instantly hard; I didn’t fucking expect a sext in reply.

Me: God damn, woman, you’re killing me with that.

Molly: You started it.

Me: I was being playful. Letting you know I’m safe.

Molly: And I’m giving you a reward for being so considerate. Are you complaining?

Me: Absolutely not. I’m going to stroke myself off and stare at your gorgeous tits right now.

Me: And later, I’m going to fuck you into oblivion.

Molly: Promise?

True to my word, I fist my cock until I blow a toe-curling orgasm. Fucking Molly drives me wild.

After that, my energy’s spent, and I grab some sleep while I can. But Carlo calls only a couple of hours later six times in a row until I finally pick up.

“Where the fuck are you?” he barks at me.

“Easy with that,” I say, sitting up and rubbing my face. Molly’s still got an hour at the diner. I planned on making her lunch for when she got home, but that’s probably not happening now.

“I just got your fucking message. What the hell happened?”

I close my eyes and force myself to tell him the fake story. How I went back to interrogate the prisoners. How I killed two of them to break the third. How he offered me information on Finnian to save his own life. It’s just true enough that it sounds believable.

“God damn, what a break,” Carlo says with a surprised laugh. “What even made you go back there, bro?”

“I thought of some questions to ask them and things got out of hand. I killed one and saw the way the other two reacted and thought, maybe that’s how I can get them to break. Then I killed the other.”

Carlo whistles. “Truly brutal shit. I’m proud of you.”

“Thanks, means so much.”

“But Renzo’s not going to be happy you let that other Irish fucker go.”

“Deal’s a deal. I keep my word. Besides, I scared the shit out of him. I doubt he’s coming back.”

“Yeah, maybe. You can deal with Don Bro. Now tell me what you found out.”

I give him the info on the hotel where Finnian shacks up with his girl. “My bet is he’s always on the move, never staying anywhere for more than a couple nights.”

“But he’s got a habit. Poor fucker needs to get his dick wet. War’s stressful, after all.” Carlo laughs, sounding delighted. “What a lucky break. God damn, bro, great work. If we get Finnian, I doubt Renzo’s going to complain much about you sparing one fucking guy.”

“I don’t want to hear it from Renzo. I’m the one getting my hands dirty.”

Carlo whistles, but he sounds like he thinks it’s hilarious. “You should head over to the big house. We’ll sit down and discuss strategy. I’m thinking we’ll have a guy or two watching that hotel at all times until we spot him. I’ll have a strike team within a minute of that place, ready to go.”

“Alright, I’ll be up soon. Get your cleaning crew over to the safe house, will you? Make sure those bodies are disposed of and the blood’s washed out.”

“Already on it. Fucking Finnian and his girlfriend. God, what a lucky break. I really hope your guy wasn’t lying to you.”

“He wasn’t.”

Carlo hangs up. I get dressed, shoot Molly another text, and head over to the Rossi mansion. My story seems to have worked, and it has the benefit of being mostly true. Yeah, Barry didn’t spill that secret about his boss until we were at the train station, and I didn’t kill those guys to spook him into talking, but it’s plausible enough. I don’t like the bad taste the lie leaves in my mouth, but it’s close enough to the truth that I can live with it.
