Davis pulled back, his beard glistening with my wetness, and grinned.

That wasn’t what completely obliterated me, though.

It was the way he crawled up my body while also licking his lips, as if he’d just had the best damn snack he’d had in his life.

I could smell myself on him when he slowly sank inside.

And when he kissed me, I didn’t hate the taste of me on his lips.

No, it turned me into a wild woman.

It made me want to get fucked hard.

But he wouldn’t do it.

He kept the pace slow and controlled, and I found the difference between Davis in a hurry and Davis in torture mode.

I rocked my hips in time with his thrusts, but soon I was wrung out and unable to even do that.

I’d never had sex that was longer than fifteen minutes. I’d never seen the point.

But this?

Davis?

Well, let’s just say he tortured me for so long I lost count, and I was enraptured with every single second of it.

By the time he finally allowed me to come, I was so completely lost that I never saw it coming.

It was life changing.

Nothing would ever be the same.

This was just sex…right?

The problem was, I couldn’t tell anymore.

Nor could I lie to myself and tell myself that it was. Because it definitely didn’t feel like just sex.

Not when he wrapped his arms around me after we were through and pulled me close. Not when I laid my head over his heart and fell asleep. And not when I woke up to find us still wrapped around each other, unwilling to leave.

CHAPTER 11

Coffee makes me less murdery.

-Davis to Greer

GREER

I did eventually leave.

Going to the bathroom and showering were necessities.

What also was a necessity was talking to Davis about protection.

We’d had sex three times now, and all of those times had been without protection.

Maybe the first time wasn’t the right time for me to get pregnant, but I was fairly in tune with my body and cycle, and if I didn’t get pregnant last night, it would be a freakin’ miracle.

Not that I was feeling at all blasé about it.

I was just choosing to deny and ignore everything until I couldn’t anymore.

Which was why, instead of freaking out about the ifs and whys, I was getting shit done.

I’d had three days to think about what I wanted to do with my life, and eventually I came up with a few things.

One of which required me to get off my ass with starting my own business in Accident.

It was as I was on the phone with the storage unit back home, tackling the monumental task of having someone else load my shit up and deliver it to me, that he came out of my bedroom looking all deliciously rumpled.

He had on a low-hanging pair of baggy sweatpants, and the only thing holding those things on his body was a single white string that was tied into a bow. A bow that seemed to frame his package almost perfectly, as if he’d planned it.

“Okay,” I said almost absently as the lady on the other end of the line assured me she would get the ball rolling on my storage unit.

“The office will have the keys. We can have that packed up and to you probably by the end of next week.”

That’d been why I’d called them.

They’d had an assurance that all things could be packed and moved in ten days or your money back. Though that might be my downfall. I had to pay them up front, which was one of those things that you weren’t supposed to do—pay for a product you didn’t have yet.

But I was desperate.

“Thanks.” I hung up and placed the phone gently on the counter.

Which reminded me…

“If we have sex again, we need to use condoms,” I told Davis bluntly.

He blinked.

“And they become one flesh,” Bryan confessed.

I snorted.

“Where did that come from?” he asked curiously.

“It came from the fact that when I cleaned myself up this morning, there was leftover stuff. And just sayin’, but if we end up having a baby together, I’m taking you for all your worth,” I told him. “I’m not working. In fact, that sounds like a great idea. You pay me to keep quiet about this, and I won’t go to Sara.”

He rolled his eyes. “You can go to Sara all you want. It was you that wanted to keep this quiet, not me.”

That was true.

“Okay, then I’ll announce on social media that you’re my future baby daddy,” I teased.

Davis rolled his eyes. “Please don’t.”

Davis was anti anything social media.

He’d gone from a professional baseball player to a professional convict in the blink of an eye. And just sayin’, but America loved that he’d protected his sister. They loved even more that he got rid of one of the most hated players in baseball to do it.
