“Kris, I think you’ve missed your calling,” Mason said as he walked down the makeshift aisle.

“Barbara and Melinda said the same thing,” Kris stated with a flush on her cheeks.

White chairs were set up in rows with the aisle running down the middle. White petals adorned the pathway and added the perfect touch. Both brides had wanted simple, and even though this screamed simple, it was still beautiful.

At the end was an altar where we would say our vows. It was made out of wood that Mason and I had collected on the beach over the last few weeks, and Kris’s brothers, Ron and Mitch, had made it for us. A stunning bouquet of flowers sat in the middle, with greenery weaving down the sides.

“Wow,” Mason said as he walked up to the altar. “I never would have imagined a bunch of random wood could look this good.”

I shook my head in disbelief. “Me either. What did the girls say?”

Kris beamed with pride. “They both got teary-eyed, then had Addie and Sutton yelling at them not to ruin their makeup.”

“It’s truly beautiful, Kris. Mitch and Ron did an amazing job.”

“I’ll tell them both you said so.”

“Seriously,” Mason said, turning to Kris, “have you ever thought about turning the bed and breakfast into a wedding venue? I mean, look at this view! You have the space and could even construct another building to have indoor weddings or receptions.”

Kris nibbled on her lip for a moment. “I honestly never thought about it until I planned this wedding for Harlee and Palmer. I’ve had so much fun doing it that I’ve already talked to Mitch and Ron about building a venue. Chip said he could help as well. I know the three of them are busy with the lighthouse, the ferries, and Chip with the pilot boats, but it would be a fun project for us. Something else to bring people to the island and share our history with them.”

Walking up to Kris, I took her hands in mine. “I really like that idea, Kris. And I love the idea that we’re your first wedding.”

Her eyes misted over. “I do, too, Braxton.” She cleared her throat, then squeezed my hands. “We have a wedding to get to. There’s a bar set up in the living room of the bed and breakfast for the wedding party. The girls are in the guest house behind the B and B, so if you two want to head on in for a bit before things get going…”

I gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Will do.”

After making our way back into the bed and breakfast, we found Gannon at the bar.

“Anything need to be done in here?” Brody asked.

Gannon shook his head. “There are like six women in the kitchen, and they all told me to get out. Everything’s set up for the dinner after the ceremony, and I found your dad and Mike listening to the Sox game on Keegan’s phone. They were sharing Bluetooth headphones.”

My eyes went wide. “They’re listening to a baseball game?”

Gannon chuckled. “They assured me the phone would be put away for the ceremony.”

Brody shrugged at me and Mason. “How about a prewedding toast?”

“I like the sound of that,” I said, walking up to the bar.

Gannon took out four shot glasses and lined them up. “Whiskey?”

Mason nodded. “Sounds good to me.”

I agreed.

Holding up our shot glasses, Brody gave Mason and me a wide grin as Gannon said, “To everlasting love. May you both have utter happiness with your future wives, and I hope life brings you everything you desire and deserve.”

Brody added, “And may your future brides, who will eventually be the mothers of your children, never eat weird shit like my wife does.”

“Hear hear!” Mason said, and I echoed him.

“Another toast,” Gannon said, this time only pouring a shot for me and Mason. “To brothers-in-law. I couldn’t have asked for better when it comes to you two.”

“I’ll second that,” Brody said while Mason and I downed the shots.

“One more!” Brody exclaimed. “To second chances. It’s the main theme for all four us. And to the women who gave them to us.”

“Yes!” I said, downing my shot.

“One last one for the hell of it!” Gannon shouted.

“Why are we the only ones taking shots?” Mason asked, pointing between me and him.

Gannon and Brody gave each other a look. “Trust me,” Gannon said. “You may be okay now, but the moment you’re standing at the end of that aisle with everyone looking at you, you’re going to be glad we took the edge off.”

Mason glanced at me. “Kind of wish we hadn’t taken those shots before we got dressed, then.”

“What?” Brody and Gannon said in unison. “You’ve already been drinking? Why didn’t you say something?”

“You said one shot, dude! How were we supposed to know you’d be shoving the whole bottle of whiskey down our throats?” I said.
