Her breathing picked up as she quickly licked her lips and stared into my eyes.

“You think you can adult your way out of this? What would you do if I pinned you down and forced you, Harlee? It wouldn’t take much for me to push you into my truck and take you right here in the parking lot.”

“Brax,” she said in a raspy voice as something moved across her face I couldn’t read. I kept talking, hoping I could make her understand.

“Because that’s what guys like Doug do. They like to get rough—and the idea of him putting his hands on you makes me want to kill someone.”

The words were out of my mouth before I even had time to realize I’d thought them.

“Brax?” Harlee whispered, confusion sweeping over her beautiful face. My heart started to pound as I looked into those eyes of hers and fought the sudden urge to kiss her. “Are you going to let go of me now?”

Dropping my hold on her, I stepped back and let my eyes sweep over her body. Even in the darkened parking lot, I could still see her perfectly. She wasn’t thin, but she wasn’t overweight either. She was in that perfect spot right between the two. Her hips were wide—and I was immediately hit with a vision of holding them in my hands while I fucked her from behind.

I shook the image away as I rubbed a hand down my face. “Get in the truck, Harlee.”

“No. I drove here, Brax. I’m not leaving my car.”

The door to the bar opened, and I looked over to see Doug standing there.

“Get in the goddamn truck,” I repeated.

She folded her arms over her chest again. “No. I need you to let me handle this.”

I sighed, but before I could argue anymore, the dickhead walked up.

“Is everything okay here?” Doug asked as he surveyed what was going on.

Harlee glanced over at him. “Everything’s fine, Doug. Brax is being a bit of a brute to get a point across.”

Doug looked at Harlee, then at me. A slow smile pulled at the corners of his mouth. “I knew I was right about you. We think the same way, dude. I’m totally down for a threesome if you are.”

I wasn’t sure who was more shocked. Harlee or me.

She blinked a few times and then said, “I’m sorry?”

“If Brax doesn’t mind sharing, I don’t either.”

I watched as Harlee stared at the guy she was supposed to be meeting for a date. She turned and looked up at me, her expression resigned. I hated that I’d had to prove her wrong. “I’m ready to go, Brax.”

I nodded and opened the door to my truck. Before Harlee got in, she said, “Sorry, Doug, I don’t think we’re a match.”

Poor Doug looked as if someone had unplugged him and let the air out.

After helping Harlee into the truck, I shut the door and looked at him. “I’m nothing like you…dude. Stay away from her.”

He looked confused, then motioned from me to Harlee. “Are you two together?”

I started for the other side of my truck. “You heard me, Doug. You so much as even breathe on her, and I’ll rearrange your face.”

Once I slid into the driver seat of my truck, I looked in the rearview mirror to see Doug heading back into the bar. I had no doubt he’d be able to pick up someone else to spend the rest of the evening with, and I couldn’t help but feel sorry for whoever she’d be. Hopefully someone who knew what the guy was into. Clearly, Harlee hadn’t heard the rumors.

Harlee sat next to me, her breathing slightly heavy.

“I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.”

She snapped her head around and glared at me. “He wanted a threesome. A threesome! What in the hell, Brax? I can’t…I don’t…oh my God! Seriously, what is that man even into?”

I reached for her hand and gave it a squeeze. “He’s a piece of shit, but I don’t think he would take things where they shouldn’t go.”

She sighed, then slowly shook her head. “I just wanted to… I mean, I knew he was into one-night stands, and that was all I was looking for…”

Her voice trailed off, and that weird pang in my chest came back. I had to fight the urge to rub at it. “Want me to drive around for a bit before dropping you back off at your car?”

With a shake of her head, she asked, “Can we go back to your place? I think I need a little time to clear my thoughts.”

I nodded, pulled out of the parking lot, and headed down the main road back into town.

“I don’t think he would have forced you to do anything you weren’t ready to do,” I said. “But like I said, I’ve heard he likes it rough.”
