Pressing her head to her arms, she took several deep breaths and then she heard the sound of a car engine. Lifting her head, she looked outside to see Drago had returned.

Excitement filled her and she was tempted to get to her feet and run to him, but instead, she made her way out of the study and went to the stairs. Before he had entered the house, she had already turned down the corridor to go to her bedroom.

All week she had been waiting for him, and it suddenly dawned on her that he’d not even spent the time to make a quick two-minute phone call to her. There was no way she could be that important to him if he could ignore her so easily.

Closing her door, she didn’t bother flicking the lock into place. She walked over to her window and sat on the seat, putting the pillow behind her to offer a little more comfort. After that, she pressed her head against the window and looked out over the gardens. It was getting dark, so dinner would be announced soon.

She didn’t want to eat with Drago.

Selma glanced across the room to see that he’d already been home twenty minutes and there was no sign of him. Did she mean so little to him that he didn’t even want to come and see her? Tears filled her eyes and she quickly closed them, squeezing them tight so she didn’t have to think or feel anything. She also clenched her hands into tight fists to try and bring her emotions under control.

She took a deep breath, and once dinner was ready, Selma walked toward the door. She put her hand on the doorknob and waited. She didn’t open or close it, but stayed perfectly still. Then, she stepped away from the door and made her way toward the en suite bathroom.

She had wanted to see Drago all week, and now that he was here, it was like this clarity had washed over her. Yes, she wanted him, but not like this. Not where he could have what he wanted and then leave her alone when it suited him. He may have gotten a phone call, but she was his wife. He could have phoned her, or left a message, or anything. Instead, she got silence.

Stripping out of her clothes, she stepped beneath the shower and lathered her body, then dealt with her hair. She didn’t want to get out, but she didn’t want to use up all the hot water. There was no way of knowing if there was a limit, but she wasn’t going to be a bitch just because it would be easy. And so, after a few minutes of washing her hair, she stepped out of the shower, wrapped a towel around her, and walked into her bedroom, only to stop.

Drago was in her bedroom.

He was dressed in a pair of dress pants and crisp white shirt, which was rolled up to the elbow, showing off his muscles and tattoos. She held onto the knot in her towel and watched him. Selma had no idea what to say. She had plenty to say in her mind with over a week to try and deal with everything, but now, faced with her husband, words failed her.

Drago didn’t say anything either.

Her nerves began to build and then she took a deep breath. “You’re back.” She knew he’d been waiting for her to speak first. Was this some kind of battleground? She had no idea what Drago wanted from her.

“I expected you to come and see me.”

“Right,” she said.

Drago frowned and looked at her. She stared right back. There were so many questions she wished to fire at him, but she gritted her teeth. He’d already gotten her to say the first words.

“What is wrong?” he asked.

“Nothing.” Selma hated lying, but if he didn’t know what was wrong, then she wasn’t going to clarify it for him.

Drago sighed. “Selma, you’re not a hard person to read. Something is clearly bothering you.”

“It’s nothing. What are you doing here?”

Drago was a very patient person. He’d prided himself on his ability to wait, to be calm, and to see what was going to happen. The past week had been torture for him. Taking his woman, enjoying her virginity, and then leaving for seven days hadn’t been his plan. Work and enemies had gotten in his way, and yes, he’d dealt with them, as he always did, firmly, swiftly, so they were no longer a problem, but that didn’t stop the fact he didn’t get to enjoy his woman for the past week.

When he left Selma, she’d been warm, open, sweet, inviting. Now, all he could think about was the sweet warmth of her soft cunt, and he wanted inside her so badly again.
