The weight of it was always too heavy to bear, and it was no different then.

So Core went down and she came with him, straddling his lap, holding him to her, rocking him as he locked his arms around her, Nanook snuffling his neck and whimpering, and one more time in his life, Core beat back the red.

He didn’t cry, not that he was the type of man who thought that was weak. There’d been a lot of that going on up in their woods.

Just that he’d used up the tears he had for that mess years ago.

She cried though, so he let her hold him and he held her in return as she did it.

Finally, she pulled it together.

“You can’t keep things from me,” she sniffled into his hair.

“I won’t,” he grunted.

“Okay,” she mumbled.

He pulled out of her headlock, but not out of her hold, when he tipped his head to look at her.

“I need to take care of you.”

“How?” she asked.

“I don’t know. I just need it.”

“Okay,” she repeated easily.

Jesus.

This woman.

“Okay,” he muttered.

She started messing with his hair again, watching her hands as she pulled it away from his face.

“Babe.”

She stopped doing that and her eyes came to him.

“Two kids is good, and I’m down with being a house dad so you can build your empire. I’m also down with having a guest room. But when the club has business to do, I’m with my brothers.”

“I know. I’m glad. Beck told me what you guys do, and it’s important. People who can’t, need people who can, to make wrongs into rights.”

He stared up at her.

She stared down at him.

At the same time, they realized where they were at.

She went after his jeans.

He went after hers.

“I got it,” she said impatiently, rolling off to a hip, and taking care of business while Core unzipped and yanked his jeans and shorts over his ass.

She swung a leg over him and was back on.

He had knees up, cocooning her, when she sat on his dick.

“Fuck yes,” he groaned.

She bounced, tagging his hair.

He watched, glorying in having her back, the sight of her, the feel of her, the smell of her.

And he kept watching until a week and a half without her caught up with him.

“Faster, baby,” he encouraged.

“I love you,” she gasped.

“Love you too. Now fuck me faster, baby.”

She went at him harder and faster.

He went after her clit.

Her head fell back. “Oh my God.”

He took a handful of her ass in his other hand.

The flush moved up her face.

“Pop,” he grunted.

With a sweet buck and a cunt squeeze, she went for him.

He left her clit, took hold of her hips and pounded her down on him.

Then he blew for her.

She had her arms tight around his neck by the time he came down.

They had other things to talk about.

But only one they had to get to now.

“Do you forgive me?” he asked.

She slid her hands to his shoulders and looked at him.

“For what?”

“Rosie.”

Her eyes grew soft and she cupped his face in both hands.

“That’s not mine to give. And it’s not yours to expect from her. So at this point, honey, the person you need forgiveness from is yourself.”

“Must have fucked some wisdom in you along the way,” he muttered, but his voice was heavy with the emotion her words caused.

Because she was right.

He didn’t know if he’d get there.

He just knew she was right.

“Hardly, that was all me,” she teased.

He looked into her eyes.

“Yeah, it was.”

Her smile trembled.

It stopped doing that when she kissed him.

Core slid away from Hellen in bed, took his feet, tugged on some jeans, pulled on a hoodie and yanked on some socks.

“Stay,” he murmured when Nanook made moves to go with him.

Nanook did as told, concerned about his dad, but now she was back, still happy to stay with their woman.

He left the bedroom and tagged his phone.

It was dark, but not late.

He’d made sure she was fed because she needed to gain back that weight he took from her.

They’d talked.

She’d told him about Eleanor’s visit.

He’d told her about how Bounty became Resurrection and answered her questions about Benito Valenzuela.

When she heard what he had to say about Valenzuela (and he’d given her the condensed version, but the guy had been a such piece of shit, that was enough), she got seriously pissed, because, although Nails spilled about Rosalie, most of the rest of what she said was shit.

They fucked again, and since she’d come twice, cried a lot, they’d worked it out and it had been emotional, not to mention, she told him she hadn’t been sleeping great (he hadn’t either), she’d been exhausted.

So she passed out.

But he had a call to make.

He stepped out on the patio and closed the door behind him.

He was lifting his phone to make the call when he stopped.
