"Oh my God, did I get it wrong—-"

Her words turn into a shaken gasp when she feels my fingers curling around her nape, and I feel her breath hitch as she feels my lips graze her ear.

"No."

I murmur the word under my breath, but she jumps in her seat as if I've roared it.

"You didn't get it wrong."

When I pull back, I see her swallow hard, and my lips curve at the way she gives her head a little shake as if she's lost control of her senses.

"Um, wow." She clears her throat. "I'm glad."

"I believe that's my line, bella."

Her cheeks color at this, and my whole body clenches. If something that simple is enough to make her blush, she's going to be pink all over once I have her in my bed.

"You must think I'm completely brazen," she suddenly says.

"As long as you're only brazen with me," I drawl, "it's all good."

The words embarrass her anew, and I'm amused at the way she tries to distract herself by reaching for her drink. But then I see the way her long, slender fingers wrap around the glass, and it's my turn to be distracted.

The color of her nails match her drink: not red, but maybe one blush hotter than pink, and it immediately brings up the most tantalizing vision in my mind.

I can see that same lovely pale, elegant hand of hers working just as fine...when wrapped around my big, fat dick.

Zee

I'm not sure how it happened.

All I know is that something's changed between then and now, and when I lower my glass after taking a sip, his gray eyes are no longer amused. They're smoldering instead, and the way he's looking at me...

It's exactly how I've seen Nicolaas look at Francesca, and it's how I wish Nic would look at me, even just once.

But while Nic never did, this man...

He's doing it now.

He's looking at me like I'm truly everything he can ever want, and before I realize what I'm doing, I'm already hearing myself whisper, "Why?"

A faintly puzzled expression falls over his chiseled features as he leans back. "What do you mean why?"

I feel like I'm setting myself up for a fall, but I can't seem to help it.

I just really need to know—-

"Why are you attracted to me?" But not Nic? "Don't you want someone less shy and boring?" Like Francesca? "I'm just—-" Me, I almost add, but this time I'm unable to finish, and I can only gasp as he scoops me out of my seat.

Oh God.

I'm suddenly on his lap, and I unthinkingly hold on to his shoulders even though the sides of my body are trapped between the edge of the countertop and his powerfully muscular chest.

"I don't think you're boring at all." His gaze locks with mine as he speaks, and my grip on his shoulders tightens involuntarily.

"If anything, I find you a little too interesting, bella. How is it possible that you've remained so disarmingly innocent at your age?"

I have the silliest urge to smile even as my heart pounds faster and faster. "Um..." It's just so crazy how this man makes me feel nervous and comfortable all at the same time. "I don't really feel that innocent...considering where I'm seated."

"It's your first time then?" he asks lazily. "To be on a man's lap?"

"Isn't it obvious?"

"I wouldn't know," he deadpans. "I've never sat on a man's lap before."

The words make me laugh even as my heart flutters away.

Gorgeous and funny.

I can't believe how perfect he is.

"Do you like it, though?"

I start to nod...but stop when I realize a simple 'yes' wouldn't be completely honest.

He raises a brow. "If you say you don't like it..."

I quickly shake my head. "It's not that. It's just..." I bite my lip. "I do like it. Because it's you. But I don't think I'd like it if it were someone else, and...that's strange, isn't it?" I burst out.

"It's not strange at all," he murmurs.

"It's not?"

"You probably don't know about this," he says silkily, "but there's this fairly new scientific discovery called sexual chemistry."

I choke back a laugh. "Is that so?"

"It is so," he says solemnly. "And while you might not believe me on this..." He suddenly bends his head, and I nearly fall out of his lap when I hear him whisper straight into my ear—-

"Sexual chemistry can also make shy girls sit on stranger's laps..."

Oh my gosh.

"...and start flirting with them."

The words make my head spin, and my heart starts hammering against my chest as I realize he's absolutely right, and everything I know about sexual chemistry...turns out to be useless.

Because this right now...

A shy girl who suddenly finds herself seated on a stranger's lap and starts flirting with him—-

This is what real sexual chemistry is.

And I want more of it.

So much so...

Rafael

All I want is to take another look at her face after her first taste of flirting.
