His cheeks burn red and he looks down at his feet. “We already know you don’t have to go through great lengths to get that to happen.” He shoots me a nervous look. “I can’t…he doesn’t know about me.”

Stepping closer, I bring my mouth to his ear. “I’m not ratting you out, Jax. If you want to play naughty games in your closet together later, I’m down. All you have to do is ask.”

He lets out a rush of breath, clouding the air around us. “Thank you for not saying anything.”

I take note he doesn’t acknowledge the rest.

“You’re welcome.” I glance down at the way his dick strains in his jeans. “Tell your cock I miss him too.”

He shoots me the bird, unable to fight a grin. “You’re a real asshole, Dante Kincaid.”

“The realest asshole you’ll ever know.”

Jaxson

Zak scowls from the passenger seat, unable to look my way. When Brandon Hayworth called me stating neither of my parents answered his call, I was secretly thankful I’d been the one to come after him. Mom and Dad are at their wits’ end with my youngest brother. It would have been the talk of the town because Dad would have exploded, reminding Zak that he’d fucked up his only chance left.

What I didn’t expect was to run into Dante.

I hate that my dick still throbs from moments earlier. So easily that man riles me up. At first it pissed me off, but after this afternoon, I’m not feeling pissed. I’m feeling an almost kinship toward him. He knows my secret. We also both have troubled little brothers, it would seem. Never would I have thought I could connect with Dante about anything, but his concern for my brother poked inside my chest in an unexpected way.

“You know you’re coming to live with me, right?” I ask, shooting him a questioning look. “I wouldn’t let them put you out on the streets.”

His tense body relaxes and he fiddles with the zipper on his coat. “I’ll just be a bother to you too.”

“You’ve been bothering me since you were born,” I tease. “Why should I expect anything less?”

He smirks at me. “Thanks, Jax. And, for what it’s worth, I didn’t call him a fairy.”

“I didn’t think you would,” I offer. “It’s a mistake. Don’t worry about it.”

“Other kids make fun of him. Because he’s…soft. Yesterday, everyone was talking because he was wearing eyeliner. But I thought it was cool that he was from New York and just owned who he was, you know?”

His story reminds me of Kian. How brave and bold he was. Still is, in fact.

“It’s admirable,” I agree. “So why did he think it was you?”

“I don’t know,” he grouses. “I was leaned up against a locker close to his, bullshitting with Cameron. We weren’t even looking at him or talking to him. He opened his locker, cursed, and then slammed it shut. Our eyes met and he flew at me.”

“He hit you?”

“No, he shoved me. And because he’s not a big guy, I didn’t budge. Cameron and I both laughed because I honestly didn’t know what the hell his problem was. He shoved me again and it pissed me off. I pushed him off me, but he fell to the ground.”

I wince because Zak is built like me. Solid and strong. Years of playing both football and baseball will do that to you.

“Did he get hurt?” I ask.

“No, he went fucking crazy. When I walked away, he lunged at me again, this time jumping on my back. I was trying to shake him off when the teacher broke us apart.”

“Sounds like you need to talk to him once he’s cooled off. Figure out what set him off,” I suggest. “He’s new, so I don’t know if he even has any friends yet.”

“He won’t talk to me,” Zak grumbles.

“Well, he’ll have to since he’s helping to pack your shit and moving it today.”

Zak’s eyes widen comically. “What?”

“They’re following us to Mom and Dad’s.” I shoot him a mean big brother grin. “And then having dinner after.”

He groans, running his fingers through his hair. “Unbelievable.”

“Believe it, little bro. I want you to make nice with him.”

“So you can bone his brother?”

Ice surges into my veins, freezing me in place. Thank fuck I’m stopped at a red light. I swallow, trying to formulate words. “I, uh, what the hell, Zak?”

“I’m just fucking with you,” Zak throws back. “Damn. Defensive much?”

Ignoring him, I drive the rest of the way, my mind a mess. Am I that transparent? Can my own brother tell how much Dante affects me?

Guys.

Not Dante.

But that’s a damn lie. I can appreciate a good-looking guy, but no one gets under my skin and makes a mess of my mind like Dante Kincaid has done in the past two days.

“Sorry,” Zak mutters when we pull into the driveway. “Apparently I shouldn’t ever open my fucking mouth.”
