My eyebrows shoot up, and I nod before I get moving to search for some rope. I don’t know what Ace has up his sleeve, but if it involves causing these assholes pain, I’m game. I find some thick twine wrapped around the drug crates in the front room and unravel three boxes worth to carry back with me. “Can I do the honors?”

Ace nods. “Crazy fuck. Make it tight.”

I nod and make the assholes face each other so I can tie their wrists together and then their ankles, behind their knees and waists.

“Can you move?”

“What the fuck do you think?”

I smile and slap him on the back much harder than I need to.

“You’re just lucky I don’t tie your dicks together. Downstairs,” I bark loudly at them.

I open the door to the dark basement and give them a shove that sends them tumbling down the rickety old stairs.

“Asshole,” one of them grunts.

“Hey, I could kill you. But I’m not going to,” I tell them as I take their joined arms and wrap more twine around the wood beam about seven feet off the ground. “You should be thanking me.”

“Thanks. Asshole.”

I smile at the dark-haired one and tighten the twine until he groans.

“You’re welcome,” I tell him and give one last punch, right to his side where he’s bleeding out. “Next time I see you, I will kill you. Both of you.”

I turn out the lights at the top of the steps and close the door, shoving a chair under the knob just to be a prick.

“Have fun,” Ace says with an amused smile.

“Fuck yeah. Are we torching the place now?” There’s no denying the excitement in my voice at the mere thought of taking out more Kings, but fuck those guys. They stole from us, and one of those assholes threatened Letty. They’ll all pay one way or another.

“Settle down, pyro,” he says as his shoulders shake with laughter. “I’ll call Doherty. Give him and the boys in blue a big win.”

I nod. “With the drugs in that front room, they’ll put those fuckers under the prison.”

“Either way, they won’t be my problem, and the Chief handled the shit with Grace and the other bodies swiftly and quietly. He deserves this.” Ace’s smile grows wider. “And they’ll be so far up Hector’s ass, he’ll burp the fucking Miranda rights.”

We also pay the police chief and his men a lot of fucking money to clean up after us and to keep our guys out of jail. Doherty always comes through. He knows who runs this town.

“We’re taking all the money, though?”

“Fuck, yeah. Grab what you can while I call Doherty, and then let’s get the fuck out of here.”

That’s music to my ears. I’m eager to get back to Letty to make sure she’s all right. Naked and wet and ready for me.

“Sounds good.” I grab a bag from my bike and load it up with stacks of cash until I can barely zip it. “Ready?”

Ace nods, and we get on our bikes and head back to Souls headquarters as sirens sound in the distance, closing in on the Iron Kings stash house.

What a fucking day!

Chapter Twenty-Five

Letty

I go back. Feeling guilty as I think of all the trouble Jordi will be in if I leave. So, I turn the car around and re-park it in the garage, slipping in through the bathroom window, all without drawing any attention to myself.

Stupid angel on my shoulder.

The worst part? Letting Pastor Braden down. He’s been blowing up my phone all day, and I keep ignoring each call and subsequent voicemail. I hate letting him down, but something Jordi said resonated with me. I’m sick, allegedly, anyway, and whatever Pastor wants from me couldn’t possibly be that important. Right?

I let out a shriek when the doorbell rings and quickly cover my mouth. I’m being silly, I know that. There’s no way Jordi knows that I got away from him. And came back.

I check the security system and curse myself for not switching the alarm back on, but it’s Shades. I quickly open the door with a smile that just as quickly fades. “Shades! My goodness, what happened to you?”

He gives me one of those sexy, crooked grins that heats me up all over.

“I came to see you, babe. Happy to see me?”

He raises his brow, but the effect is minimal as I take in his appearance. Bloody knuckles. Blood on his lips. Blood dripping down his right arm.

Blood everywhere.

“Get in here.” Ignoring the pounding in my chest, I yank him inside with all the force I can muster. “What happened?”

“Got into a fight,” he grumbles with a half-hearted shrug. “I’m fine.”

“You’re not dying if that’s what you mean,” I tell him and head back to the bathroom to get the First-Aid kit. “But you’re injured. Are these knife wounds?”
