“You are or you would like to?”

“I am.” Stay cool, LB. I try to remind myself because right now it sounds like he is about to deny my request.

“And what would be your reason for taking her to your home and not bringing my blood to mine?” I debate whether a thinly veiled lie that I don’t actually consider a lie would be best or just the full out truth.

“I want to protect her, care for her and love her. I have fallen for your cousin Quan, and I plan to make her my wife.” Well, I guess I went with the truth.

“Have you fucked her?” I hear his teeth gnashing and my mind begins to go into fight mode.

“I have not, yet.”

“Good. That bought you a day or so. Here is what we are going to do. You are going to bring her to me so I can lay eyes on her, meet her since I haven't seen her since she was a few months old and I will ask her, in private, if she wants to be with you. IF she says no, you will stand down and walk away. If she says yes, I will let her leave with you, but my condition is that you do not take her virtue until she is your wife. Do you agree to the terms?” Well shit. My dick is protesting the ‘not taking’ since all I have been thinking about since the bathroom is breeding her. I am such a piece of shit. But, if I want this to be peaceful, I have no choice.

“Very well,” I tell him, rubbing my temple.

“Now when should I expect you?” I am not ready to give up our own little paradise.

“The day after tomorrow.”

“See you then.”

Once I hung up, I was running through everything that needed to be done at my place before we got back there to make it ready for the lady of the house and then I remembered, I need to check on dinner for her.

I walked in and saw her halfway to her knees sobbing and gripping her throat and I almost died. My eyes began to track the house trying to find the perpetrator, but I saw nothing. All I could do was grab her and put her in my lap.

“Piccola, have you calmed now?” Her puffs of air from her mouth hit my neck as she nods her head. I lift her chin gently so I can look in her red swollen eyes. “Will you tell me now what has happened?” She looks down like she is ashamed or something and that pisses me off. There is nothing she can’t say to me. “Satine.”

“I-it doesn't matter. It feels silly now.” Oh no she is not going to brush me off.

“Nothing you could say to me is silly. Now tell me what is going on in that brilliant head of yours.”

“I thought you had left me, and I think my heart was breaking. I felt lost and alone and like I was suffocating. I know it sounds crazy since we…” I stop her mid-sentence with my mouth on hers. When she responds with a moan and begins trying to turn around so she can straddle me, I run my fingers through her hair and tilt her head the way I want.

“Fuck. I am trying to control myself,” I tell her, putting my forehead on hers to calm myself. Her mouth is still chasing mine when she whimpers and pulls back.

“Who said I need you to control yourself?” Holy shit! This girl is going to kill me.

“First of all Piccola, I need you to know I would never leave you. At least not the way you thought. I might have to go take care of business, but I will always be back, okay? That I don’t want you to worry about. Got it?” She looks at me and gives me a smile that both breaks my heart and starts making me a new man.

“Got it.” I Kiss the side of her head before telling her the rest.

“Second, I was on the phone with Quanico, your cousin.” I wait to see some sort of recognition, but I don't see any.

“I don’t know him. Have we ever met?”

“He says he saw you when you were a few months old but not since then.”

“Then why were you talking to him? What could he possibly have to do with me?”

“He is your blood, Piccola. In our line of work, blood and family is everything. Since I can't let you go back to your father, he is your guardian. More like your protector. All decisions about you have to go through him now.” She jerks back and leans out so she can look at me.

“How is that fair? I don’t even know him. Why should he get to decide anything? What if I want you to control my fate? Don’t I get a say?” The look of anguish at once again being told what to do is killing me but this is our way.
