“Don’t worry about it, Ann-Marie. I am sure the chemist will still take it.”

“I’m sure they will,” she says, her eyes meeting mine. She offers me a sexy smile.

“Fuck it,” I growl before leaning down and kissing her upturned lips. Our hands drop and suddenly she’s pressed close to me, her arms around my neck, my hands everywhere. Her hips, her peach of an arse, everywhere I can reach really, molding over her every curve, memorizing them. Savoring them. I continue to kiss her until I hear Danielle behind us.

"I want to go home, Uncle Tony," she says.

"Of course, punky," I say, moving away from Ann-Marie. She smiles and winks at me. I know this isn't over. She knows it too.

"Feel better, Danielle," she says smiling at my niece. I pocket the prescription.

"What do I owe you?" I ask pulling my wallet out.

"Nothing. Of course," she says laughing.

"Of course," I repeat. I wasn't sure if this was a specialty service. With the National Health Service, I am not sure something is free unless I'm presented with a bill. "Until next time," I tell her, picking up Danielle. I couldn't get her to put shoes on and I don't want her bare feet on the ground outside.

"Wait. Here is a dose of the medicine to get her going. Remember lots of fluids and cartoons will go a long way," she says, turning a megawatt smile on me.

Shite, I think as my heart does a little flip and hitch. I'm a goner for this woman.

Back at my sister’s place, I get Danielle back in bed and settle in on the couch, dreaming of Ann-Marie. As I usually don’t dream, this is quite memorable. Several hours later, I wake up and call my assistant, Greg.

“Hey boss. Did you forget something?” he asks, picking up on the first ring.

“No, but I need you to come by here and run a few errands for me. My niece is sick and I can’t leave her alone.”

“Of course, no explanation needed.” I text him the address. “I can be there in less than ten minutes.”

“Great. Thank you. The front door is open and the list for the store and the prescription I need filled will be on the table.”

“No problem. See you soon.”

Once I leave Greg the things he will need, I run upstairs to check on Danielle. She’s still sleeping, with the covers off of her. I pull the blankets back over her and step back out into the hallway.

Since she’s still sleeping, I use the time to take a quick shower. I can't get the delectable Doctor Mancini off of my mind though. As soon as I am out of the shower, I pick up my phone again, this time calling her.

“Hello?” she asks, sounding more awake than she did this morning. I think I’d know her voice anywhere now. It’s ingrained in my soul.

“Ann-Marie?”

“Tony? Is Danielle okay?” she asks, immediately concerned.

“Oh yes. She’s sleeping.”

“That’s good. Normal.”

“Can I take you out to dinner?” I blurt out, forgetting how to converse with a woman. She has turned me into a bloody fool and I can’t even say that I hate it.

“Yes,” she answers immediately.

“Next week?” I ask, though I want her now, I know it’ll have to wait until Paul and Evie return from their trip.

“That’s perfect. Call me and let me know when.”

“I’d like it to be sooner, but Danielle and all.”

“Me too, but I totally understand.”

“Thank you. I’ll call you next week.”

“Great. Thanks for calling. Call again if you need anything.”

“I will,” I say and we hang up.

I don’t know how I’ll get through the week now.

Chapter Four

Ann Marie

What am I doing? I chastise myself as I open the walkway gate. Like a total asshole, I got the address from Danielle’s patient file. I feel like a total stalker but there is no way in hell I can wait until next week to see him again. When he kissed me, there was something special there, I know it. It’s been hours, but I could swear I can still feel his lips on mine and I need more of that.

I ring the bell and wait for the door to open.

“Where the hell have you been?” Tony asks as he throws the door open.

“Um…” I say, not really knowing what to say.

“Ann-Marie? What are you doing here?”

“You are expecting company? I should go,” I say.

“No, please. Come in. I’ve been waiting on my assistant for an hour now. He ran some errands for me because I didn’t want to leave Danielle alone.”

“Oh, I came to check on the patient and I brought some dinner. I hope I am not overstepping. This is weird, right? I just thought after earlier,” I say unable to stop talking. Suddenly, his lips are on mine and I am quiet.

“You were rambling,” he says.
