Her voice is terse. “Yes, I’m okay. Why wouldn’t I be okay?”

She twists her body fully away from me and looks out the window.

I reach over and put my hand on her arm, and she jerks away from my touch. “I don’t need your pity, Dominic Evans. I don’t need anything from you. I did you the favor… I went on the fake date with you. I’ll be finished with your website by tomorrow, and then we’ll be done. We’re even.”

I sigh as I pull into the driveway. “Slow down, Lucy. Just let me explain.”

I come to a stop and put the gear shift into park, but before I can do anything, she’s clamoring out of the truck and halfway up the front steps. I get out of my truck and call after her, but she ignores me, and I watch as she walks into the house, slamming the door behind her. I fucked up, and I know I did, but I’m going to make it right.

LUCIANA

I look at my phone and read the text again.

I’d like to see you today. If you’re not at the shop by five o’clock, I’m coming to you.

It’s four-thirty, and I’ve been stewing over his text all day. I’m not sure who the hell he thinks he is, but obviously he thinks he can summon me and I’m going to come running. I guess since I came all over his fingers, he thinks he can boss me around, but I’ve got news for him: I’m ready for battle.

Yeah, I’m going to see him, but I’m going to give him a piece of my mind when I do it.

I drive to the garage and park in the back. I walk in and don’t stop until I’m standing next to him. As soon as he looks at me, I start. “I don’t know who the hell you think you are, but—”

He takes a step toward me. “Have you had anything to drink today?”

I put my hands on my hips and laugh. “What? Now you think you can tell me when I can and can’t drink? I’m not sure what you’re doing but—”

He’s practically vibrating around me. “Have you drunk anything today, Lucy? Yes or no.”

He’s gritting his teeth, and I throw a hand up. “No, hell, Dom, I don’t know who you think—”

But I don’t get the rest of it out. He slams his mouth against mine and ravages my lips. His arms go around me, and he’s kissing me like his whole life depends on it. I’m so lost in the kiss that when he pulls away, we’re no longer standing in the bay of the garage, but he’s moved us to the office. He puts his hands on each side of my face. “I want you so fuckin’ bad.”

I laugh. I mean how could I not? “Well, that’s funny because last night I was practically fuckin’ throwing myself at you and you didn’t want me then.”

“Lucy, I always want you. Every damn second of every day, I want you. But I made a promise that I wouldn’t hurt you again. You had been drinking, and I didn’t want you to regret anything that happened between us. I didn’t want you to think I was taking advantage of you.”

I put my hand on his chest. “Wait, are you telling me that you stopped me from touching you because I had been drinking?”

“Yes, I needed you to have a clear head so that when we do this—and honey, we’re going to do this. I’m going to have you today, next week, next month, whenever you’re ready, but you’re going to be mine and there’s not going to be any regrets.”

I still need him to be clear. “So you did want me—”

He pulls me against him, and I can feel his hard manhood press into my belly. “I almost came in my pants last night, Lucky. Yes, I want you… more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life.”

I grab his hand. “Do you need to lock up?”

His eyebrows lift, and he croaks, “Jake can do it.”

I pull him with me through the office and then walk up the stairs to his apartment and don’t stop until I’m standing in his living room. He shuts the door behind him and then gestures around the apartment. “It’s not much.”

I pull my shirt up my body and over my head before letting it drop to the floor. Dom’s mouth falls open, and I smile at him. “I like your apartment.”

His eyes are glued to my breast. “Fuckkkkk,” he murmurs.

I undo the button on my jeans, slide them down my legs, and step out of them. “I’ve put on weight since I was eighteen.”

“You’re perfection,” he says, his eyes glued to my body.

I’m standing before him in only my bra and panties, and he’s practically salivating. He comes toward me, and I put a hand to his chest to stop him. He looks between my hand and my face in confusion.
