Chapter 1

Nicole

I wake up, feeling like a ton of bricks has fallen on me. Immediately, I feel the pain hit me from head to toe. It’s so bad that I’m afraid to open my eyes. I rub my forehead, hoping to relieve the throbbing pressure I feel in my head. It’s worse than a migraine. Much worse.

“Nicole, wake up. You have to wake up.”

I hear the whispering close to my ear and that’s when I feel the tight grip on my other hand. Whoever it is has their hand so tight on mine that it wouldn’t surprise me if my circulation was cut off. They’re also trembling. I can feel it. The tremors are so intense that it’s jarring my body and I whimper in pain.

What is wrong with me?

I try to open my eyes, but they feel so heavy. The urge to give up and let the blackness claim me again is so strong that it is almost impossible to resist. The hold on my hand becomes completely panicked, shaking my hand back and forth.

“Nicole! Wake up! They’re coming back soon!”

Who’s coming back?

I can’t manage to verbalize any words. I try to move my head and a hum comes across my lips. The fact I can produce any sound makes me extremely happy. I can’t figure out what’s going on.

“Nicole, please. We have to get out of here.”

“Gabby?” I manage to say, my mouth so dry that I have to work to make my tongue to move.

“Oh, thank God. Nicole, they drugged you with something on a cloth because you wouldn’t quit fighting.”

“If you had helped me, we might have gotten free,” I mumble, as everything that has happened comes back to me.

“I tried. I swear I did. He … he … I couldn’t get away from him. I don’t want him near me again. You have to help me find a way out of here.”

“Where are we?”

“I don’t know. They turned onto State Road 30. We drove for over an hour.”

“Who are they?”

“The guy who tried to … Who held me had an MC cut on. Something or other Kings.”

“Feral Kings?”

“I’m not sure, maybe. I was mostly terrified. Do you think they know who you are?” Gabby asks, and as I struggle to sit up, she helps. It’s then I notice we’re on a concrete floor that has been tiled over. The tiles are really old and in pretty bad shape. There’s a mattress in the corner that has definitely seen better days.

If it didn’t hurt so much, I’d roll my eyes. “Gabby, they attacked us in the middle of my husband’s territory. They took us over the fifty or so other people outside on the streets. They saw my son who wore a club cut and was shooting. Of course, they know who we are.”

“I know you don’t like me, but you don’t have to treat me like I’m stupid. I was just thinking they may have taken us because we were standing close to Dom—not that they know our names.”

As annoyed as I am with her, I can see her point.

“Sorry, being kidnapped and drugged has a bad effect on me.”

“I wish I had been drugged,” she murmurs, holding her head down.

I study her for a minute, not liking what I’m seeing. “Did something happen while I was out of it Gabby?”

“It’s not important. We just need to figure a way out of here before they come back.”

“That might be impossible,” I mutter with a sigh.

“We can’t stay here, Nicole,” she argues.

“We may not have a choice, Gabby. At least not until Dragon and your father come after us.”

“You think they will be here soon?”

“With guns blazing. We just have to survive until then.”

“That might be easier said than done,” Gabby huffs. She wraps her arms around her body and looks around the cold, depressing room.

“We don’t have a choice,” I murmured, refusing to let the fear that I feel boil up inside of me. I have to contain it. I have no idea how I’m going to make Gabby listen to me, but I need to figure it out, and soon. Our lives are going to depend on the both of us keeping our heads straight and working together to survive this situation. Dragon will come for me. I know that with everything in me.

I just don’t know how long it will take him to get here …

Chapter 2

Dragon

“I’m not waiting!” I snarl at Ford. He has no idea what a twisted, sadistic bunch the Feral Kings MC is.

“I have a man on the inside, Dragon. If there’s hope of getting your woman, it’s him that will and can do it. If you go barging in now, you will do more harm than good,” Ford argues.

“A man on the inside? One man against the rest of them? If you think that will save my fucking woman, you’re insane. Eyeball is a fucking lunatic. I don’t want him breathing the same air as my woman!”
