“No. Just . . . just no.” A giggle escaped, surprising her. “Do not go there.”

“Where? To Roast Potato? Or how about Mashed Potato? I could call you Mash for short? You don’t like that? No?”

She was shaking her head wildly, giggling. How had she gone from mortified to giggling?

“I really thought Mashed Potato was going to become our thing. But okay. Sweet Potato it is.”

“No! Take it back! Take it back!”

“Can’t take it back. It’s your name now. I’m sorry. I don’t make the rules.” She slid, nearly flying backward.

Thankfully, he grabbed her, holding her tight. “Easy there. No getting hurt on my watch.”

Warmth and happiness flooded her at his caring.

“How are you feeling, Sweet Potato?”

She wrinkled her nose at him. “What? Besides embarrassed that I can’t get off your lap and basically blurted my every fear out to you?”

“There’s no need to be embarrassed.”

“I never trust people this quickly,” she confessed. “There’s just something about you.”

“I know. I feel it too.”

She chewed her lip.

“I can hear you thinking, Greer. Why don’t you just ask me what’s on your mind?”

“You don’t have to answer. I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”

“Let me decide that. If it doesn’t, I won’t answer you. All right?”

She nodded.

“So, what’s your question?”

“Are you a Daddy Dom?”

9

Okay. He hadn’t been expecting that question.

Although, he guessed she knew about the lifestyle because of Aidan and Livvy.

Unless she was a Little?

“It’s all right if you don’t want to answer,” she said hastily, her cheeks filling with red. “That was rude. It’s private. It’s just when you said about the spanking . . . and there were a few other things . . . I was just wondering.”

“Hey, it’s all right. It is private, but I don’t mind telling you that I’m a Daddy Dom.”

“Oh.”

Oh? Was that all she had to say?

“Would you like to ask me a question?” she asked.

“All right. Are you a Little?”

She bit her lip. “Yes. But I’ve never . . . not really . . . I’ve dabbled a bit, but I’ve never been in a relationship like that.”

He wanted to ask how long. “You’ve never had a Daddy?”

“Um. Well. Kind of. I’ve just never met any of them.”

He frowned. “What does that mean?”

“I’ve only ever interacted online with other Daddy Doms.”

Alarm filled him. “You mean . . . you’ve talked to men online? To Daddy Doms?”

“Um. Yes.” She blushed..

“Please tell me you were safe. That you didn’t meet up with any of them. Or give any of them your real name or any sort of personal information.”

“Of course not! I wouldn’t do that.”

He breathed out a sigh of relief as she glared up at him. She was clearly angry with him, but she kind of reminded him of a feisty little kitten.

Cute as fuck.

“That’s good, Greer. You have to be really careful.”

“I know. Out of everyone, I know how careful I have to be.” She looked like she regretted saying that as soon as it came out.

And the words cut at him. Because, of course she did. And he could only guess at how much courage it took for her to go online and find someone to talk to.

“I’m sorry I doubted you. I was just worried. Does Sav know?” Because somehow, he couldn’t see the other man condoning that.

Her eyes widened comically. “God, no.” Then, her scowl was back and she was waggling her finger at him. “And you will not tell him.”

He had to force himself not to smile.

Definitely a pissed-off little kitten.

So. Fucking. Cute.

“I won’t? And why won’t I? What will you give me to keep your secrets, Sweet Potato?”

“Urgh. How about I don’t kick you in the balls for calling me that?”

“You’re going to have to do better than that.”

“I don’t know. I don’t know what you want.”

What did he want?

“I’m not sure yet. I’ll keep your secret, unless he asks me directly. I won’t lie to him.”

“Urgh, fine.”

He ran his hand up and down her back, then cupped her neck. Her eyes fluttered shut.

“Still have a headache, Sweet Potato?”

“Yes. I think it might be getting worse.”

“We need to get you some painkillers and food. Maybe a nap.”

“I have to get off your lap.” But she didn’t move.

“Are you sure there isn’t something I can do? You can tell me. I think we’re long past getting embarrassed with each other, right?”

“I’m not sure I’ll ever get past that. I mean . . . from the moment I asked you if there was a man with a machete standing behind me, to freaking out over snow touching me, to basically blurting out my every fear . . . yeah, you would think I couldn’t feel any more embarrassment. But I’m sure I will do something else ridiculous.”

He sensed she was close to tears again. Poor baby, this had all been a lot for her.
