“I think I’d prefer you tell me what’s going to happen so I can prepare,” I mutter as we walk outside. I’ve been in a small private tent outside of the courtyard where the wedding is to take place. This all seems so freaking weird to me. Who goes to all this trouble to marry a woman who he essentially bargained for and keeps her under lock and key? He hasn’t even bothered to see me either—a fact that I’m both grateful for and scared about simultaneously.
“It will be better if you appear to be completely in the dark about any of this, Lina.”
“Well, that won’t be hard to do,” I huff, as my heart kicks into overdrive. I walk slowly toward the priest and the man standing beside him who is extremely obese and looks like he’s about to suffocate in a white tuxedo that appears to be a size too small—and that’s being nice. He’s also sweating profusely. It is probably eighty degrees outside, but there’s a breeze. It’s much warmer in Greece right now.
I wish I was there.
When I get up to the priest, I’m gripping my brother’s hand so tightly that it’s a wonder I don’t break his hand. When Doyle Kelly gives me all of his attention and I become the center of his focus, I close my eyes and pray whatever my brother is planning happens soon.
Very soon.

My hand tightens on my gun, my finger itching to pull the trigger as I see the bastard eyeing Lina. She’s got a veil on and it’s covering her face. Watching her walk toward another man to marry him, burns in my gut. I’m livid, surrounded by so much anger that I can barely breathe because of it. My hand shakes with the need to end this and bring Melina home. That way I will have her under lock and key—safe—while I seek retribution. Doyle Kelly has too much firepower to proceed that route. If I do, Melina will get stuck in the crossfire. Plus, it will fuck up the deal that Marco Stratakis and Killian have struck. Killian hasn’t said a lot, but I have sources, too. So, I’m playing this by the book, but I don’t like it.
I hear in my earpiece that the first three posts that Kelly’s men have taken are neutralized and my adrenaline spikes. It’s almost showtime. The seconds seem to tick by so slowly as we wait to get the all clear. The plan is to take out the men that are in sniper positions and then move in on the ones who are surrounding the ceremony itself—and my woman.
She is mine. When I get my hands on her, I’m going to turn her ass pink for running out on me. I can admit the plan was just to lose myself in her, but I claimed her innocence. There’s more I want from her—more I need from her.
Finally, my and Killian’s men have all their targets. We advance slowly—too slow for my liking. I motion to Victorio and Stone to circle out to each aisle. There’s only a couple of guests, and they will need to be contained.
I keep moving along the outskirts of the yard, quietly making my way to one of the remaining guards. I put my gun back in the holster under my suit and quickly grab the hilt of my knife. I pull it out as I get closer to the back of Kelly’s henchmen. When I look across the yard, I can see that Killian has already contained his man. He’s on the ground while Killian is looking at me with that motherfucking cocky smirk of his. I roll my eyes as I grab the asshole in front of me. I cap my hand over his mouth, muffling any sound he might make. His hands come up immediately to try and pull me away, but while he’s distracted, I slice across his neck. He drops almost instantly. I wipe the blade of my knife on his expensive suit and then sheathe it. My gun will come in handier for this next step.
Killian gives me the signal to say he’s leaving to check the other men. I have Stone and several others here. I quietly make my way to the middle of the yard, following the path that Melina just traveled herself. Luckily, in this sham of a wedding the seats are mostly empty. The one row that is in use has been contained by Victorio on my right and Stone on my left. The only other person that could possibly alarm the unhappy couple to look behind them is the priest and since we had the one who was originally supposed to do the ceremony replaced, that won’t be an issue. How Killian has a priest in his back pocket, I don’t really know or care that much.
