I smiled. “I love you, cuz.”

Merik winked. “Love you too.”

Rue broke up our enjoyment. “Be an angel for ninety days, Kashmere, and you can change Killer Crows in all the ways you want too.”

We made it to the boardroom’s door.

Dane was about to open the door.

“Oh yeah, Kash. I forgot to tell you this.” Merik got in front of me and slyly moved Dane out of the way. “There’s some odd developments in the West’s downtown area.”

What now?

A worried expression covered Rue’s face. “Merik, is this information important enough for Kashmere to hear before a major meeting?”

“It might be.” Merik handed her his machine gun.

Now holding the gun, she frowned at it.

Merik pulled out his phone and pressed on the screen. “I’m not sure if this needs your attention or not, but I figured I’d let you know, cuz.”

“What’s up?” I gazed at him.

Merik handed me his phone.

I checked the image.

It was a photo of at least fifteen white guys in suits walking into the Obsidian Hotel—my sister’s hotel. Chanel developed Obsidian and many other buildings all around the West’s downtown.

“Hmmm.” I swiped his phone to the left. There were more pictures. The other images showed new angles of the men.

“They definitely came into the hotel with guns under their jackets.”

I quirked my brows. “Do we know who they are?”

Merik shook his head. “Our men are talking to the hotel staff to get their names and over hear any conversations that can be of any help.”

Merik swiped the picture again. “I think this is their boss.”

I studied the picture of the suspected boss. Three men flanked him as he stood in the center. They’d been engaged in conversation when the picture was taken. All three men gazed his way, while he looked ahead, unconcerned.

Yep. That must be the leader.

And I had to admit that he was a good looking guy, chiseled face and full lips. He appeared to have a nice body under the tailored suit.

“He’s definitely some sort of boss.” I nodded. “Find out his name, Merik, and why he’s in Paradise.”

“But after the meeting.” Rue twisted her lips to the side. “I’ll have my people look into it also.”

“Good.” I gave the phone back to Merik. “I don’t need any surprises, especially if I’m expected to be a good girl for these ninety days.”

No more problems.

Dane opened the Boardroom’s door.

There’d been loud chatter filling the room.

Once I entered, all conversation ceased.

What the fuck? I know they didn’t start this meeting without me?

Simon stood next to my seat—the throne. There, he positioned himself on the platform in front of the Board as if he was the Chairman.

And his son stood next to him with a slick grin on his face.

Merik whispered, “Are you sure you don’t want me to blast them?”

“Not yet.” I sighed. “But hold that thought for another day.”

oices hushed when the Board noticed me enter.

On the platform and next to my throne, Simon closed his mouth and curled it into a deceptive smile.

I bet you were talking a whole lot of shit before I came in here.

Rue leaned my way and kept her voice low. “Stay calm.”

I pursed my lips together. That was the best that the Board would get from me. Surely rage covered my face. My fingers itched to yank out my guns and shoot Simon and his son in the head.

But then there were fourteen other Executives with their own guns and they knew how to shoot. Many of the men had been killing while I grew in my mother’s womb. In fact some of them had been killing before my mother was a growing egg in my grandmother’s womb.

I strolled forward at a steady pace, making sure I didn’t appear shaken.

I can’t believe this bitch ass motherfucker.

Simon knew that I hadn’t asked to be Chairman and that I was still grieving my siblings. Presently, my heart was not only broken from death, but it was also bruised and exposed, covered in unhealed wounds and decorated in scars.

I was more vulnerable than I’d ever been in life.

What a bitch move.

I stepped up on the platform and walked straight to Simon.

“Very nice display today, Kashmere.” Simon ogled me as if I was some whore he’d spotted on the street. Simon licked his lips. “I had no idea how much you’ve grown.”

A few of the Executives snickered on the right of the room.

They would have never done this to Romeo.

“Well. Well.” Simon gave a devilish grin. “You look very nice today. I love the dress. If I was younger. . .”

Bile rose in my throat.

More snickers sounded.

I walked forward, stopped in front of him, and kept my voice low. “Is there a reason why you are by my throne?”

Simon leaned forward and kept his voice low too. “The throne looked a little dusty for someone so beautiful as you. My son and I thought it would be a good idea to come up and wipe some of the dust away.”
