“She hot? Does she have hot friends?”

“She’s my cousin. Of course she’s hot, and if any of you touch her, I’ll…” I reconsidered, knowing better than to make it into a genuine challenge. Besides, Mya was the brainiac type and would probably turn her nose up at these guys. “If any of you ever hook up with her, don’t fucking tell me about it because that’s gross.” I teased a finger over the top of Ramsey’s crack, hoping we were done with that convo because there were way more interesting things demanding my attention as I inched my finger lower. Like the tension in Ramsey’s jaw, the little flutter of the muscles there. How he shifted slightly, giving me more access.

A sharp burst of laughter from Cross interrupted my concentration again.

“The fuck are you laugh—aw, goddamn, dude. C’mon,” Ellis groaned.

Fortunately the elevator doors slid open at that moment, and we all spilled out, hacking and sucking in the fresh air as Cross continued snickering, the nasty bastard so pleased with himself.

“I think I should tell you something.” Ramsey dropped onto the cushy bench seating next to me after returning from the bar. He plunked another beer on the low table in front of me. We’d been in the club for a couple of hours. Cross, Tucker, and several of the other guys had already found their prospects for the night. I had a nice beer buzz going, but I was keeping it tame, already envisioning the hundreds of ways Ramsey and I could put a happy ending on the night later. It was great motivation to keep from getting whiskey dick.

“That I’m the best you’ve ever had? I already know that,” I teased.

“You’re the only guy I’ve ever had.” It was a fair quip, but a reminder that thunked like lead in my chest. My grin faltered as I circled back to what he’d just said about needing to tell me something. “What’s up?”

“Coach called me in the other day. I was debating telling you, but I think I should.” He blew out a breath that put me on the edge of my seat. “It’s not a big deal, or it doesn’t have to be, but he’s got some idea we’re hooking up.”

“Shit. Really? How? The storage room?” Fuck, that really had been risky, and now I was running back through my memories, trying to pin down moments that could’ve given us away. Surely if Coach knew about the storage room, he would’ve said something sooner.

“No, thank fuck. That didn’t come up. Though that was totally stupid.”

“Stupidly hot. But risky, yeah. Bet you’ve never done anything like that in your life before. It’s good to cut loose that way sometimes.” I arched a brow at him, but his expression remained decidedly serious, which sent nerves jangling through my gut.

“I do that a lot around you,” he said softly.

“And…” I frowned. “You don’t want to mess around anymore? Wait, what did Coach say? Is he pissed? Fuck.” My stomach flipped over on itself, knotted. “What if he sends me packing?” Not that I hadn’t considered it before, but what I actually hadn’t considered was that Ramsey and I would still be hooking up, and now I was in too deep to want to stop it. But the idea of being traded was sobering. Even scarier was that I wasn’t sure I wouldn’t choose being traded over stopping shit with Ramsey. “My contract—”

“No. Damn, McRae, slow down. You’re not gonna get traded. He’s not pissed. He’s…cautious, I guess. He doesn’t want a PR mess, just like you and I have talked about before. Doesn’t want to fuck up the team dynamic. I told him that wouldn’t happen.”

“Because it won’t,” I gritted through my teeth. I didn’t like the way he wouldn’t look at me. “You know me better than that. You didn’t answer my other question, though. Do you want to stop this?”

“Like I said, slow the fuck down. Jesus, you’re so impatient sometimes.” Ramsey met my eyes, finally, the focus in them sharp. “I don’t want to stop. Do you?”

“Fuck no. In the elevator, all I could think about was laying you out on a bed when we got back, stripping those jeans off you, and eating your ass.”

“Goddamn.” Ramsey glanced around.

“No one’s paying attention. I told you, I’m careful.”

“Just like you were in the elevator with your hand down my pants?” The glint in his eyes said it wasn’t entirely an admonishment, though.

“No one was paying attention then either. But I can cut that out too.”

“I don’t want you to. What I do want is for you to finish that fucking beer so we can get the fuck out of here.”

“Where we going?”

“Back to the hotel so you can strip me and eat my ass.”

With the warning from Coach in the backs of our minds, we left separately, Ramsey about twenty minutes before I made an excuse and bailed too, along with Ellis.
